Re: Nursery food

In my view the odd jam or honey sandwich is too bad as long as it isn't every day. It is quite usual for nurseries to give a "lighter" meal for tea ie not always hot. With re to puddings, all nurseries and schools will provide a pudding - again I think everything in moderation - so I have ...

Re: Nanny Share Advice Please

and yes I think it is fair to expect nanny to do "normal" nanny duties if share is split between your home and other families.

Re: Nanny Share Advice Please

Hi, we have done a nanny share for the last 7 years. Our first was for nearly 4 years, our second was for 2 years and we are now on our third - all have worked out brilliantly and I am still in contact with the mums from share 1 and share 2 (and our children still see their children). We have been l...

Re: Victorian tiling by Ground and Steel?

Hi there, I didn't use them in the end as I was worried about the amount of negative feedback I received from various sources. I have really struggled to get quotes and still have not had the work done - Martin of Abby Driveways (recommended by others) came to my house but never gave me a quote desp...

Re: Romany Scout Hut for 5th Birthday Party

It's a brilliant space - we had our son's 7th bday party there. The grounds are amazing; (yes that's right - you can't use the land to the back where there is some play equipment but you can use the land to the front and side of the hut which is really extensive and the kids can roam free - trees to...

Re: Scooter + crutches + main road = ???

Well said!! I am sure the mum in question was trying her best in difficult circumstances - I often end up pulling my 3 year old along if he has given up/is tired/grumpy. She was probably using the scooter as her son was too old for a buggy and too slow on his crutches. Sometimes we have to muddle th...

Re: No breakfast/ after school club - what are the alternati

Yes that's right. My younger son is at the Montessori school and I am aware that they offer pick up and drop off at Holy Ghost. They are less than 5 minutes walk from the school.

Re: Question about a nanny who wants to work 2nd job part ti

My nanny works as a midwife including night shifts on the days she doesn't work for us. It's a tricky one as nannies like the rest of us will have late nights before they come to work the next morning to look after our children and what they do in their free time is none of our business as employers...

Re: Broomwood headmistress

I am not a Broomwood parent but I suspect it would be best to give her the benefit of the doubt - after all there is nothing that you can do to influence her appointment now. IME good prep schools like Broomwood will give such appointments a huge amount of thought and consideration before going ahea...

Re: Do I need integrated blinds in bifold doors?

Hi, we had blinds fitted after our bi-folds went in (so not integrated) but they are very slim profile/hardly noticeable and are operated using a battery powered motor that has lasted 3 years now with no problems so you can open and close them at flick of switch (with a hand held remote). We had the...
