Re: Recommendation for new front door locks

Try Lock Centre on Lavender Hill - they are brilliant.

Re: Half naked man in woman's clothes right or wrong?

I was wondering what had happened to him - haven't seen him for ages, glad he's still here. He is quite a sight but whenever my children have seen him they are confused rather than appalled!

Re: Biscuiteers Icing Cafe coming to the Northcote Road

@Northcoteluvvie - if you prefer living in Clapham to Battersea then why don't you move to Clapham?!

Re: Pauls to Biscuiteers, Fat Face to Flight Centre?

Well I may be in the minority but I think Biscuiteer sounds great. Why on earth would we want another cafe? There are loads of places already on Northcote Road - and lots of them are independent shops (unlike Pret!). I'm surprised you would like a Pret Jonathan, I thought you would want an independe...

Re: TODDLER NOT SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT

Children start becoming self aware at about 18 months old and so can start experiencing separation anxiety. So it's possibly this as well? Just keep telling yourself it's a phase and won't last forever. My son was a terrible sleeper and I had visions of it lasting for years. He's now 12 and I have t...

Re: 41 weeks pregnant - baby not engaged!

It is very normal for 2nd/3rd babies not to engage until labour begins. I'm very surprised the midwife didn't tell you this. Your uterus changes shape with your first birth. Have faith - your body has done it twice before, it knows what it's doing! I went 8 days over with my third (having been a day...

Re: Bolingbroke has it's first Ofsted rating

I also have a child at Bolingbroke in Y8 and I am very pleased with the school. The teachers are fantastic and really understand the children and now that the building is complete there are some great facilities (the art suite, food technology, science labs). The presentations which I have been to a...

Re: Schools using new municipal gym on Clapham common

I don't think my husband was that bothered really - more bemused that a bunch of quite young children were using quite heavy gym equipment. He did feel that the teacher could have talked to the people who were already using the equipment before letting the children loose on it though - just as a mat...

Re: Schools using new municipal gym on Clapham common

I think you might be thinking of a different gym. The one I'm talking about is opposite Eland Road - no school opposite. It's the one with bikes and cross trainers etc, not the wooden one. And it's not just kid's messing about on them, it's a school using it for a PE lesson. Personally I think it's ...

Schools using new municipal gym on Clapham common

My husband was using the new outdoor gym on Clapham common today (the one by the Grandison road playground). He could see a group of schoolchildren doing some exercises nearby (it was obviously a PE lesson as they were in a school PE kit and with a teacher). Before he knew it all of the children wer...

Re: Parents to be consulted over plans to change sibling rul

So interesting statistics those from Belleville. I have a daughter who started reception in Belleville in 2013. She is a sibling and we live in the 500-800m bracket. But before everyone gets upset, here's the thing - we haven't moved since my son started at Belleville in 2006 and two other children ...

Re: Parents to be consulted over plans to change sibling rul

@AbbhevilleMummy. I'm not sure who the German system works well for. The NHS is ranked as the top healthcare system out of 11 of the world's wealthiest countries (see article below), with Germany 5th. One of the main reasons for this is funding. As soon as you start adding in private health insuranc...

Re: Parents to be consulted over plans to change sibling rul

@Scientist. I have been avoiding posting on this thread but I am absolutely astounded at your suggestions of tax rebates for people who use private education. Most private schools have charitable status and are therefore already funded by the state. Also there are many ways which rich people reduce ...
