Re: Local on MasterChef on Wednesday!

Watched this on catch up last night and Billy was brilliant! Great to watch MasterChef with a spot of local interest thrown in.

Spoiler alert - looking foward to seeing the quarter finals this evening... ;)

Re: Dr Johnson Avenue and no right turn on Elmbourne Rd.

Just a reminder - whatever your opinion - that the consultation on Dr Johnson Ave and Elmbourne Rd closes at midnight tonight (Friday 15th).

Re: Car Repair Garage Recommendation?

Just spotted this thread and wanted to add my voice to support Autocentre South. We used them recently on the recommendation of friends who were sick of spending so much at the official dealer. I found them incredibly helpful, competitively priced (I got a couple of other quotes for the same big job...

Re: Bike mechanic services (push bike)

I go to Everyone Bikes on Northcote Road (the end near Broomwood Road). They're great in there - so helpful, friendly and efficient. I bought my bike from them and take it in if ever I need a hand with anything or for its regular service. Brilliant, local and independent :D

Current clothing collections for refugee crisis?

I wondered if anyone is aware of where or who might be collecting locally at the moment for the refugee crisis? I've checked with The Bedford who were collecting a few weeks ago, but they're not doing so currently. We've just had a big sort out of winter coats/jackets/fleeces and so on and will happ...

Re: ** HELP - 2 Engagement rings **

What a lovely quandary to have! When my husband asked me to marry him he'd bought me a lovely, simple silver ring with a tiny diamond inset as he knew (not that we'd talked about it) that I'd love to be involved in the choice of the 'real' ring and that we'd go and find that together. I still wear i...

Re: Trinity Road is back to normal. Whatever that means...

I've just called 101 to report that the lights at the end of St James' Drive, leading on to Trinity Road, are stuck on red! People are edging across the lights from that direction when it seems safe to do so - hopefully it'll be sorted out quickly. Good to have it all back to normal - will be even b...

Re: NHS Dentist Balham - Recommendations please!

I don't know whether you have to live near your dentist like you do your doctor, but if the catchment areas aren't that tight, then I'd really recommend Dentistree on Webbs Road, just up from Northcote Road (so really not very far from Balham!). We used to live near but have now moved to Balham and ...

Re: Running club for kids

Thanks for the tip about the running school for kids, mouseg34! I found it online at http://body-logic.co.uk/the-running-school/kids-running/ and it sounds brilliant and really reasonable too. Will look into that further.. Just to add to the mention of the Herne Hill Harriers at Tooting Bec Athletic...

Re: Replacement Sash Window - Recommendations please!

We went with Ayrton - similarly priced against two or three other quotes - and were really pleased with their work and windows. Good people to deal with too.

Re: Top ten places to eat?

Great timing to have this post up top again as I woke up this morning wanting to spread the word about Bellevue Restaurant. It's the one just around the corner from Brinkley's on Trinity Road which used to be Bellevue Rendez-vous. It's been taken over by Gazette and we had a really good meal there l...

Re: Local collections for Calais Refugees?

Just to confirm about The Bedford in Balham collecting things to send to refugees. We dropped off a few bags earlier today to the people serving behind the bar. They say they're happy to take things in each and every day, so if the other collection points are too full, this is another good local pla...

Re: Try a FREE Pilates class

Just wanted to say that I went to Michelle's class at Fybre Fitness on Northcote Road and thought it was brilliant. Really clear explanations of what I should be doing - not sure I've ever done Pilates correctly before, but this time I did (I think!). Are there still spaces on your new Thursday even...

Re: Can you recommend a post natal personal trainer?

I'd highly recommend Mel Capleton of Open Air Fit. He works outdoors (as the name implies!) on Wandsworth Common and is incredibly effective and motivating. Both his personal training sessions and group football fitness classes are brilliant and I speak from personal and happy experience! If you're ...
