No brainer - Richard Sanders of RS Electrical (try Mr Google). Excellent workman and completely trustworthy - once in an emergency when we were away we phoned the code for our keysafe through to him, he let himself into the house, fixed the problem, left everything spotless and locked up the key ag...
@SouthLondonDaddy - the severity of any storm (actually any weather event) depends ultimately on the amount of energy involved. Climate change certainly does not cause hurricanes (though the state of the climate is ultimately responsible for all weather events) but rising GHG levels do mean that mo...
@muddyboots - fair enough. I guess Waitrose did it because so many people abused it for cheap parking. It's maddening that the Flowbird app no longer works. On the wider point - for your children's sake think through the impacts that our lifestyles have and will have in future. I have already men...
Don’t get me started on ideologies ….. However people do have to have space to try things and make mistakes - but must be willing to learn from them and change course. Especially on the climate stuff (I have a science degree and have been into it for over 20 years) the solutions are neither obvious,...
@SouthLondonDaddy - now that I have recovered from the shock of reading a considered and thought through response let me take up your challenge to try to answer. But first - my apologies for accusing you of reading the Daily Fail ….. There are I think two ways of looking at this. First of all there ...
SouthLondonDaddy - some very good friends of ours live in Valley Road which was in the Streatham LTN. A survey of all the residents in the road was organised and supported it by a big majority because it reduced traffic. Maybe don’t believe everything you read in the Daily Fail - don’t you think som...
I know it's a bold suggestion, but instead of talking to the collection guys why not find out the facts? Segregated food waste is recycled into an anaerobic digester which generates renewable energy and an environmentally friendly fertiliser. Why not encourage everyone to do it?
If you check I think you will find that it was Waitrose who applied for planning permission for the cameras, not the Council that imposed them. But don't let the facts get in the way of a rant about the Council and cars.
Unless your affairs are unusually complicated it's not rocket science, it just needs some basic knowledge, experience and decent admin. Try Killik on Northcote Road. The firm has been around for years, in my experience handles all those sort of things well and above all offers decent coffee in th...
Could someone please recommend an individual (rather than a firm) who could tax on our tax compliance ie preparing and filing returns, responding to HMRC etc. It's not especially comlicated but we want to find an individual with whom we can build a continuing relationship. Thanks in advance.
Try Killik on Northcote Road - they manage a portfolio for us which includes US shares. I would be staggered if they could not sort it out for you pretty easily. And they are really nice people to deal with who make a decent cup of coffee!!!
You can buy compostable liners in pretty much any supermarket - the specification is on the Council website. It will cost you pennies a week. If doing that to help the environment really is too much trouble and expense then there really is little hope.
Billy Kikidis of MK Services - we have used him regularly in our home and in rental properties for at least 10 years. He is totally trustworthy - we happily give him the keys to our home. I don’t have his number to hand but you can find MK Services online. And his wife Jane (Jane’s Plumbing) is an e...
