Re: Psst! Have You Heard About Strictly Come Juniors Tennis Camp.... Pass It On Please!

Three posts but very little useful info. Links to websites that don't seem to work. I'm actually looking for kids summer tennis camps in Clapham.

I know not everyone need to have super slick websites but it's putting me off booking. Has anyone used the above?

Re: Down to earth private primaries

Newton Prep in Battersea is definitely worth considering - no hats/blazers/airs. Feels about as informal as a private school can. Very warm atmosphere. Co-ed. School has great facilities but the somewhat 'urban' setting near railway lines might put off some parents looking for a more traditional 'En...

Re: Newton Prep, Belleville (Meteor) and Heathbrook

Can't add too much useful to PP except to say that we are current NP parents and love the school (as does our child) We did look at Heathbrook and felt it was a good option - the head was passionate and warm and his own children attend the school, which felt like a good sign. It was initially built ...

Re: Brother in law refusing to help my son with work experience

several large firms these days have a 'no work experience for friends and family' rule. It's to stop/slow down the perpetuation of privelege and nepotism. It was completely not allowed at one place I've worked at, then at another there were ways around it if you really insisted. Covid has probably g...

Re: Newton Prep or Eaton House The Manor?

NP parent here and those are the same two schools we chose between. Super glad we chose Newton in the end, thoroughly impressed by it and I don't think the traditional nature of EH would have suited us. We live CC Northside so commute would obviously be amazing to EH, but Newton is really not that b...

Re: Battersea Nine Elms versus Southfields SW19

They are very different areas - Battersea/Nine Elms is central London, Southfields is the more standard SW London terraced house traditional suburbia. Bits of Battersea are more traditional and pricey (near the park) some bits are unpleasant council flats (near the trainlines) and the new builds nea...

Re: Should curtains be this expensive?

I've used John Lewis in a Victorian bay window. They were ok, pretty good overall but not as good as the others I bought from Pret a Vivre (Fulham, Wandsworth Bridge road) They were great from start to finish - not cheap but i'm normally a cheapskate and I went back to them when I moved and needed m...

Re: Farrow and Ball green testers - and colours

I don't have any of those but - have you spoken to the (American?) man who works at F& B northcote rd? (he's usually there on Saturdays, not sure re weekdays) He's super helpful and might be able to advise on best green colour choice, and what trim goes with it. Especially if you describe your l...

Re: Many plants for sale after garden re-design - mostly will thrive in shade

Hi

There are a couple I am keen on - notably the last purple flowers and the hydrangea.

Do you mind sending me a PM with prices and I could hopefully pop in late Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

Thanks!

Re: Chez Bruce - non-family friendly

Also, why do (some) people feel the need to share their grievances so publicly? Thought this was a forum for advice, recommendations, information - criticism of specific establishments feels petty, and yet seems to be a growing trend. If somewhere doesn't want to make me feel welcome due to my own p...

Re: Hypnotherapy for arachnophobia - recommendations?

I'm fairly majorly arachnophobic and grew up in Australia. You will be fine. In newer flats and hotels you really won't see them. You get spiders mostly indoors only in older houses that aren't well fly-screened and/or have trees/bushes/plants right next to the windows - that's how they get in. The ...

Re: Breast Augmentation

What a very peculiar post.  1) Google can tell you how much it costs. 2) We can't answer for your husband specifically (I'm pretty sure all husbands don't react to things in an identical manner) 3) whether your children should forgo tutoring rather depends on how badly they were doing without it.  4...
