Re: Child and parent therapist/advisor

Hang in there I am sure it is just a phase. Have you spoken to his school or nursery to see if they can offer any help? I think you're right about the attention seeking. Not that I am an expert. Parent Practice on Thurleigh Road run family workshops from time to time which are very good. They also r...

Re: Entry Door System Installer - Recommendations

SDS on Northcote Road are brilliant for this kind of thing. We had them round to do something else recently and they were so helpful and saved me a lot of money when they could easily have up sold me. I was very impressed.

Re: What happened to the nanny jobs?

Hi NannyLiveout

That's funny. I had the opposite impression. There seem to be lots of nanny posts on this site? Maybe they are not all full time? Or maybe I am confusing au pair and nanny posts.

Re: Local baby bank, "Little Village" featured in Channel 4 Dispatches programme last night

Thanks so much for posting this. I was aware of Little Village but not exactly how much they do.
Inspirational!

Re: Slipped lumbar disc & Physio/Pilates

The Recentre on Balham High Road is also excellent. I have used them for a couple of different things over the years and always been delighted with the result. I do agree with Star, you have a very specific problem and I would ask beforehand re experiences but I would be surprised if they can't help...

Re: shed roof needs re-felting - seeking recommended trades person?

This is tough as it's a general handyman job as opposed to a painter and decorator or plumber.

Could someone non-specialist do it? As in someone good with their hands? I might know someone...

Re: Travelling from Fulham to Northcote Road in the mornings

I think the overground will be the only option here unless he/she happy to cycle or leave very early.
Have you tried city mapper? Its about the best app for sorting a route out across London.

Hope that you get sorted

Re: Hornsby House registration

Moving around is a good comment. Some families will hold four places - one at state and three at private - when they accept one then three waiting lists move! When the person below them accepts then another three can move so one person accepting a place can free up five places in wait lists - it's m...

Re: Central London restaurant recommendations needed!

I'm still a fan of the OXO tower. Food very good although occasionally not amazing but the views of London are always fab. Lovely atmosphere although only ever been Thursday / Fri / Sat so not sure about earlier in the week. Also a fan of Brindisa in Soho. Good fun place and food always great. Have ...

Re: Hornsby House registration

I think it’s a fair question as it’s got so popular recently. My understanding was that it has become a school where if you haven’t registered at birth, and I mean the first place to drive home on the way back from the hospital, then it’s too late. That was because the waiting list was based on the ...

High flying lawyer sacks pregnant nanny - loses tribunal

This story makes me really really mad/upset. A high flying Oxford educated lawyer sacked his nanny and a London tribunal has upheld her claims for direct pregnancy discrimination and unfair dismissal. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6175281/London-City-lawyer-sacked-nanny-telling-wife-pregn...

Re: Professional support for toddler's misbehaviour? Recommendations in Wandsworth / Wimbledon / Clapham (therapists etc

Hi South London Daddy,
I feel your pain. Try The Parent Practice on Thurleigh Road. They have specialists / run a wide variety of classes etc. I know many parents / families who have used them.

Good luck

Re: Baby left in car with engine running?

OMG I am horrified by this post.  You are so right, there could have been so many disastrous outcomes. I hope that the mother in question sees this and realises how irresponsible she was.
