Re: EPC rating and insulation

The assessor should have given you a punch list of things to improve?

Loft insulation is the easiest and cheapest upgrade. Payback, at present energy prices, is less than a year.

Solar panels are also a great way of improving your rating.

Re: Structural Engineer

It depends on the scale of what you are doing. For larger domestic works Croft SE are the best ATM. Certainly if it involves Party Wall awards. For smaller stuff, say a loft conversion, a one man band is probably the most cost effective. If you can give approximate scope of works I can give you a mo...

Re: Basement work almost causes two SW12 houses to collapse

What is most shocking is that the ‘professionals’ involved won’t have bothered checking if the ‘basement company’ had any *relevant* insurance cover. Basement insurance cover is totally different to general build insurance. General build cover goes down 1.2m for standard foundations and drains. Base...

I would be more supportive of it if it was aimed at the drivers who never pay any attention to 30mph zones either!

Re: Which broadband/Community Fibre?

CF used to be really, really good. Most of the originally highly motivated core team has left. One of my business CF lines went down. I emailed them a few times: nothing. I then phoned an ex employee in despair and he texted someone in the biz and mysteriously it started working next day….. Open Rea...

Room available would suit a grad student

I do regularly post here under another business handle but it didn't feel appropriate to post under that handle for this. I am looking for a lodger for my spare room. Preferably someone like a grad student. It is an exceptionallly nice 5 bed house close to St George's Park with a superb private gard...
