Re: Anyone using their little brown food bin?

"We have stopped using ours" - please think of the environmental benefits for everyone else and start again.  It really isn't that much effort.

Issues re Chadwicks

I have to say that the few times we have bought meat from Chadwick’s it has been excellent. But if you have an issue with it and have the time then go to Wimbledon Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and get your meat from March House Farm - they’ll probably tell you the name of the cow you are going to ea...

Re: Anyone using their little brown food bin?

We live just off Clapham Common West Side and use it completely routinely. Only once was it not collected. We logged the missed collection on the Council website and it was sorted by the evening.

Re: Cleaner impasse

I can’t believe I have read this - as someone else said, this is an individual not a tradeable delivery slot that you can trade with a neighbour, alpha or not. I reckon you are really lucky that the cleaner hasn’t said “stuff the pair of you”. After all those years of valuing her being “lovely” you ...

Re: They are coming for your children!

But there are so many smart people round here that i really do think it is fair to ask what talent they lack which you have.  Do you think all of them - most of them parents - are all too stupid to see it?

Re: They are coming for your children!

I think we should be really grateful that someone as perceptive and smart as you has spotted this and informed us.  I really don't understand why none of the other really smart people who live around here haven't picked up on it.  I mean, they've had 88 years.

Re: Husband rude to brother in law

I have to say that I think the OP is pretty spot on with the Nappy Valley stereotype, though for some unaccountable reason she has missed out the gym membership and Waitrose - stereotypes develop because there is truth in them. But there is another side to it too - we have lived around here since th...

Re: Parent smacking someone else’s child

You are all correct, the comment re the Stasi was silly.  Sorry.  But the fact does remain that we will all have seen awful results from anonymous pile ons where only one side of astory is heard but a situation nevertheless escalates out of control.

Re: Parent smacking someone else’s child

Not (sadly) having children I am not remotely qualified to comment on the specifics but at the same time I can’t help wondering whether anonymous posting on social media, without hearing anything of the other side of the story, is really the best way to address an issue which could tear a couple of ...

Re: Reform voting housekeeper

@readysteadycook - just out of interest, why do you believe stuff you read on Twitter or whatever it’s called today? On science issues such as eg Covid or the Climate do you check out what the scientists actually write?

Re: Traditional Christmas is causing issues with girlfriend

@XmasDinner - me again. I think your girlfriend should read some history before being so judgemental about traditions etc being inherently anything.  For example, read about Victorian civil servants who gave their whole lives to living in a total alien environment to bring agriculture, education, th...

Re: Traditional Christmas is causing issues with girlfriend

This is not meant to be remotely judgemental, but as a man with over 40 years marriage (to the same person!) and counting beneath his belt I think I can say for certain that there will be many more much more significant compromises that you will have to work out, and also that you will both have to ...

Re: Any plans for Wandsworth to increase charges for SUVs?

I'm pretty certain that, at least informally, basing residents' parking charges on vehicle weight has been looked at though I don't know where it's got to.  May be speak to your councillor. But why on earth get one of those monstrosities anyway?  Do you really think that all the data about the envir...
