Re: Rollerskating...

Hi. We went to a roller skating party at Westcroft Leisure Centre in Carshalton a few years ago. It doesn’t list roller skating on their website but another website https://www.rocknrollerdisco.com references that venue.
I would give either of those a call.

Re: How big is the academic gap between Honeywell and Newton Prep?

Very well said livegreen. It’s tricky for them to make friends so consistency is hugely important. Make a decision and stick to it. Some years are better than others for all kids so best not to make rash decisions based on one teacher / one bad experience.

Re: How big is the academic gap between Honeywell and Newton Prep?

Honeywell is a happy school no doubt. However, one of my children fitted in slightly better there than the other one. My son wasn’t into football, preferred the company of girls and is generally a bit of a nerd - he is much happier at his Indy secondary school now, where there seem to be more kids l...

Re: dreading xmas because of my mean sister in law

Sounds like typical bullying to me, which probably means that HDM is right and your SIL has some serious issues. Is she your husband’s sister or wife of brother? Sounds like she is the sister and the other SIL is married to her other brother but just checking. Obvs if it is that way your husband wil...

Re: Is it worth buying Miele?

Forgot that! Doors are very annoying - have WM on left too and transferring stuff into the drier is not straightforward.

Re: Is it worth buying Miele?

We have a Miele washing machine. I like the fact you don’t have to put washing liquid in every time, it’s all built in (and you can adjust the amount it puts in according to how soft your water is). Various programmes are easy to store and use, and it is quiet while it’s running. Also you can do eve...

Re: New partner is overly strict with his son

Good for you. You have reminded me of a friend from uni who never showed his children any sympathy when they were injured. If their fingers were half sliced off he’d tell them to get on with it even when they were really little. I don’t remember him ever saying they were “embarrassing” though - that...

Re: New partner is overly strict with his son

Oh dear - what a decision. I’ve no experience but I have read a lot of novels and if that was the first chapter I don’t think I’d be expecting him to be the hero of the story. But.. you seem committed to the relationship so I think you should try and talk to him. It may have been a one off with him ...

Re: Separated and going on holiday?

Really sorry to hear that. If you’re amicable towards one another then I guess it might work... but if either of you (or both) are angry or upset I would give it a miss. I do get that you might want the support with 5 year old twins but it wouldn’t be much of a holiday for any of you if you’re upset...

Re: Marks and Spencers Food hall opens on St John's Road, Battersea

Love the fact you can scan stuff on the app as you go round and put it straight in a bag, avoiding queuing at all.
(The roasted chickens are delicious too)

Re: Screen time and young children

I’m inclined to agree with BP1. There is a middle ground here. You don’t want him to be that kid that wasn’t allowed to watch tv when we were young. But I hear the other side to the argument that he’s only 6.5. Do you think you could reason with him that he’s only allowed 30 mins a day? I read a goo...

Re: INVITED GUEST HAS ASKED IF HER DAUGHTERS BOYFRIEND CAN COME TOO

How rude!
How old are these girls?
And is your friend the sort of parent who can’t say no?
Should be quite easy to justify by the fact you aren’t inviting your daughter’s boyfriend.
Have a lovely holiday - hopefully at worst you’ll have a sulky teenager for the first few days.
