Diversity and Community: £120 grant a month supporting social incentives and charities

Postby inoculand » Fri Mar 15, 2019 10:37 am

Dear All,

I am sorry I did not post for a very long time. So much so that my account had been taken down. I am now the proud father of a little girl of 4 that is as sweet as it gets. But I still receive the newsletter that is always entertaining.

We launched an incentive but it is not successful and it is most likely because we are not going the right way about it.

We started with supporting PAC-UK a charity for adoption because my brother had gone through the process of adopting and I saw how challenging the post-adoption process was for the parents and for the child. https://www.pac-uk.org/inoculand-forms- ... ip-pac-uk/

Now we thought of offering a £120 grant a month as part of our Diversity and Community incentive. But so far we offered it to Oasis Children's Venture in Stockwell. We followed them the past few years and we loved the work they are doing https://oasisplay.org.uk/

The issue that I am facing is that no one is coming forth to apply for the grant. And I was not planning in me having to actively look for potential recipients that is very time-consuming.

So here it is, we are looking for charities, schools, churches, associations. What we offer is a 1-off grant of £120 per month. Any recipient can only receive 1 grant per year. We want that money to go towards helping our community, make a project going ahead, help a family in need...

As we do have the mean of vetting a project, we, therefore, require it to go through an establishment/organisation that will receive the money and acknowledge the gift through a post linking our Diversity and Community page https://www.inoculandpestcontrol.co.uk/ ... community/

So what I need from the Nappyvalley community is to pass on the word to interested parties, or to suggest any ideas back to us as to how promoting our incentive.

Regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I have clicked through to the link but it doesn't provide much guidance, unless I am looking in the wrong place.

is there any information as to the funding criteria, if any?

What type of projects are you looking to fund?

What will you fund?

Is there a specific organisational set up that you need to be to receive funding, LTD? CIC? Charity etc

How do you apply?

How will you assess applications?

If you could post the funding guidance or DM me I would be most grateful.

Thanks

Flambeau

Dear All,

In reply to Flambeau, we do not assess the projects as such. The last 3 recipients of the grants are as varied as can be:

Gardening www.sydenhamgarden.org.uk/

Theatre  www.sixteenfeet.co.uk

neighbourhood  www.brixtoncommunitybase.org/

Of course, we do have to prioritise so the online marketing manager suggested to rank applicants according to their Domain Authority. So simply put I have a tool that does the work for me as to remove any bias.

Some applicants who just have started their charity work and have a low DA are probably the one who most need the grants, so we hence ask them to get endorsed by a more established institution that will vouch for them.

At present, we still have 8 grants to award. Then I will have to consider if we want to let it run further than the 12 initial grants and/or if we want to put in place something else.

An applicant suggested offering skilled work instead of money. We offer pest control in London that is not the most glamorous of the subject, but there are a lot of people who need it and cannot necessarily afford it.

I was thinking of a scheme involving churches, possibly homeless shelters, possibly hospitals to provide to the most needing free of charge treatments? I am not yet sure how I would want to go about it yet but I am open to suggestions.

We are not Microsoft or Apple, but even in a modest way, I intend to extend a bit of help as long as it does not damage the core business of course. And I would encourage other corporate organisations to follow suit. You do not need to make £30000 cheques to make a difference, every little help goes in the right direction.

Dear All,

I am happy all our hard work is going in the right direction. I was contacted by Rebecca who had read my previous posts on the subject on Nappyvalley and I am delighted to count her as one of the recipients of our grants.

I hope this will motivate others to come forward and contact us through our wedsite https://www.inoculandpestcontrol.co.uk/ rather than through the forum.

The last recipients of the grants are also displayed on Our Diversity and Community page:

http://www.sixteenfeet.co.uk/

https://www.clothemethankyou.com/

http://www.brixtonwindmill.org/

http://www.slbi.org.uk/ this is South London Botanical Institute for the one who wonders

http://www.friendsofgoodrich.com/

http://childspacenursery.org/

And last but not least, thanks to Nappyvalley who helped us spread the word to Rebecca https://littlevillagehq.org/ who just was awarded Grant No 10.

We had initially introduced 12 grants so there are still 2 available for projects coming forward.

Regards,

Daniel
