Please DON'T buy H. Forman and son smoked salmon from Waitrose (Lance Forman MEP has heinous bigoted views) - boycott

Postby GuyD73 » Wed Jun 12, 2019 1:33 pm

I’m sure plenty of Wandsworth remain voters observed with a degree of disgust the candidates put forward by both the Brexit Party and UKIP for the European elections.  Even before the official launch, the erstwhile ‘leader’ of the Brexit party Catherine Blaiklock was forced to resign when it came to light she’d posted abhorrent islamophobic and racist content on social media, some of which you can find detailed here.  This is very much mirrored by UKIP, whose candidates include Carl Benjamin who tweeted “I wouldn’t even rape you” to Labour MP Jess Phillips, in a message featuring the tag #feminismiscancer. Nice.  Then, just over a week later, Brexit Party treasurer Michael McGough was removed from his position for offensive social media comments after The Guardian unearthed antisemitic, homophobic, islamophobic and offensive racist remarks about people from “bingo bongo land” and people who had perished in the Grenfell Tower tragedy. So here we have two parties characterised by bigotry and prejudice, I only provide the info above for context, and I’m delighted they got such little support in the European elections from the diverse and tolerant residents of Wandsworth, but what of the supporters of this toxic ideology within the business community? For my part, I long ago decided that I wouldn’t support the businesses of the likes of Dyson and Wetherspoons, and when I came across Lance Forman of H Forman & Sons (seafood suppliers) on twitter, I wondered how many Remain-orientated customers of his smoked salmon and other products via Ocado and Waitrose, are aware of what he stands for? A quick trawl of Mr Forman’s twitter feed https://twitter.com/LanceForman shows he’s firmly against any action on climate change, talks about breaking international treaties, as well as retweeting Candace Owens, who said ‘You know, he was a national socialist, but if Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well, OK, fine’. He’s a fan of the DUP (gosh, where even to start with these abortion hating charmers) and the oleaginous Steve ‘spend as much as necessary to win’ Baker MP. And in commenting on the scandal of squaddies using a picture of Corbyn for target practice, he feels it’s worthy of a joke about Dianne Abott’s weight – ‘They were using Diane Abbott but the target was too easy’. And more recently, since being elected to Brussels, he’s tweeted a picture mocking the homeless in the city, what a prince! (see attached) So he’s a nazi-sympathising, climate-denying, homeless-mocking, repellent bigot who inherited his family’s business in London and is likely to mess about wasting tax-payers’ money in the European parliament exactly like Farage did.  I do hope many of you will all consider Mr Forman’s character and perhaps decide to buy a different brand of smoked salmon next time you’re shopping at Waitrose or elsewhere.  Before anyone says, it’s lovely smoked salmon, I don’t care about his political views. Fine, buy it. I just couldn’t bear to be helping make profits for someone without any moral compass, but you might be cool with it, each to their own.  Also this sort of post won’t be news to Mr Forman, he’s openly said he’s been contacted by large numbers of remainers saying they’re going to boycott his products, and he obviously doesn’t care much. It will be interesting to see though, how his business performs with half the population, if many more people start highlighting his views, and others decide to make a point with their consumer choices in this area.   So DON’T buy H. Forman and son seafood from Waitrose, Ocado or online. Buy something else, sustainable and tasty, but without a side order of hatred and bigotry.

Thank you for the heads up. I don’t personally consume animal products but good to know about this all the same.

The responses to your post, however, are depressing. Do some people truly believe that calling out racism, homophobia and Islamaphobia is somehow morally equivalent to it?

Thanks for the heads up as I've bought that before from Waitrose.
I'm very much into boycotting businesses that are unethical and in this case owned by a jumped up fascist twerp I had never heard of until now.
The era of fascism is well and truly upon us and too many people are willing to be brainwashed by these hateful demagogues- Trump, Bolsonaro and even lesser known politicians in countries like Sri Lanka. I remember that sunny day we were outraged Boris Johnson was to be the mayor of our beautiful city and now he will be prime minister. It is so depressing.

"Heinous bigoted views"

Please give a direct quote of this MEP so we can judge rather than the manic spittle-flecked stream-of-consciousness hearsay, tittle tattle that includes every scores of people not even in his party or where he happened to approve of a totally unrelated comment.

As usual it's obvious what this person means is that ALL people who voted Brexit are guilty of "heinous bigoted views" so cankered is their worldview

(Probably thinks they are all pedophiles, arsonists, racists, nazis , child murderers, gangsters and drug dealers too).

Well, Chorister, I look forward to you posting some examples of my bigotry to back up your silly comment (I'll wait 😆 ).

Blenkarne, are we to believe you share Mr Forman's views? you sound like a charmer too. Eugh.

Petal, not really bovvered if you read it or not, it's currently second on the 'most read' list, so it rather looks like I've achieved my aim doesn't it? and you look a bit silly, but it's not the first time for that is it? You seem to enjoy being owned on this forum. Takes all sorts I suppose.  😉

Star and Notastepfordwife, thanks for your comments. It is a rather depressing place we're in isn't it? Let's console ourselves with the the insanely good results for the Lib dems in the Euros and pray that some of this will read over to the next GE. I didn't actually mean to post that photo but perhaps it can give us all hope.

Denwand, dear dear, thought you'd been banned for life, what a shame. Still a loon then?

If anyone has any sensible, reasoned arguments as to why Mr Forman's views are not abhorrent, I'd be genuinely interested to hear them.

Banned for what pray? Disagreeing with you?

Accusing people of being "Loons" for disagreeing with you?

I'm happy for Nappyvalley to make their own mind up about who is and who isn't a "Loon" on here...

As fro read count, yes lots of people read your posts, rather in the way the Victorian's loved to visit a freak show to see "What's he saying now???"  Of course your total and well self-documented lack of self-awareness means you can't even see that.

Anyway the question was -

"If you want people to judge this person as being a "heinous bigot" then please post a direct quote from him and link here"

Otherwise it's just your subjective judgement on it.

Are you pretending to be extremely dense? Your ignorance is beyond belief.

I can't quite believe I need to explain this but....

I've put a link to this nasty little man's twitter feed in my original post.

Twitter is this social media network where people write stuff, perhaps add a photo or video and y'know tweet it. He has both tweeted and retweeted some pretty disgusting things. He is the author of everything he tweets. Retweets are a slightly different matter but it's not my job to explain that to someone as demonstrably thick as you I'm afraid.

Here is a recent tweet mocking the homeless in Brussels. I'm curious, do you think this is funny? Is it ok or funny to mock the homeless?

If you have lost your moral compass, perhaps it is. I find it, and him, utterly vile.

I asked for evidence of heinous bigotry and all we get is a weak joke which you subjectively think is proof of bigotry?

You can't even find one actual quote on twitter to support this - but instead expect us to trawl a hundred pages of twitter feed to find something that offends you?

If you are so sure - where are the quotes?

Guy73 - when we drop out of the EU, what will you do? Move on or let this dominate your life? It will be a very sad life if you can't get over this.

The whole topic has become one of pitted rivalry and tedious exchanges bordering on the edge of aggression. Not just here but everywhere.

There must be more to life than an endless debate about Brexit.

We had a plebiscite. We lost. Let us move on and have Boris do that for us.

Unbelievable, he's still at it! Haven't heard a peep out this odious whining boring little man for ages (banned?) and had hoped he'd gone off in private to have his mental breakdown after not getting his way but failing to get over it, splitting up his family and ruining his business and now having to job seek... all because of bloody Brexit. Has it been worth it? Definitely not! Get your priorities in order, move on and spare us these long rants (which nobody reads anyway because we do have lives). Go away! 👿

Can we please just stop the insults and obsessions.

There are people out there being stabbed as we speak. Parents being informed by police officers at their front doors as we speak and news filtering through communities.

being flooded out of their homes. Will have a bigger effect than Brexit. Losing everything and being stuffed by insurers. Maybe poor swimmers being rescued by RAF.

Kids starving in Yemen. Ill with diarrhoea and not even clean water. Probably be dead before the UN can get to them. Or our aid is dropped to them.

Tankers being bombed by terrorists in the strait of Hormuz and the world being ripped off by higher oil prices. (And Jeremy Corbin dithering in his support for our interests).

And all we get is ... Brexit ?!? Counter insult?!! Some more Brexit diatribe?! And some more insults to the pro-EU bunch. Let’s all get over this and focus on the rest of the stuff that matters.

Like going to grab a quick drink in the Admiral Cod tomorrow afternoon. And discussing who is who in the hunt season.

Sloanster

Anyone for it ?

Sounds good but prob not tomorrow as it's Father's Day and we are out.

Just to say, I enjoy having a friendly chat to anyone who isn't going to me scream at me that I'm a bigot, racist, stupid etc as per Guy's posts. Massive long rants in capitals, encouraging boycotts and insulting people who disagree with him are completely disgusting and *that particular man* just totally gets my back up.

Interesting people are open to other reasonable views. I've had great chats with strangers, neighbours, family about exiting the EU and it's all good because the discussion is respectful, interested, civil and non-obsessive.

Happy Fathers Day for tomorrow Guy Dorrell - make it about your kids and your inlaws and not about Brexit! ✌️

Ahh, the fish man. Makes sense now.

Michael Goves parents lost their business to the EU. They were fish wholesalers who when the seas were opened up to other Eu countries, found that the price of fish and the commissions and the amount of fish collapsed.

Michael (a good schoolfriend of mine, and I do go for the odd tipple
with his missus) is anti EU and that had a result.

Strange that Guy is pro-EU. Protecting local markets should bump up profits. Maybe he cares too much about the good that the SU has done for markets.
