Brissi closing today on Northcote Road

Postby Annabel (admin) » Sun Sep 08, 2019 10:22 am

Sad to be writing that another lovely store on Northcote Road will close today.

Staff only told yesterday. If you've been a customer over the years you might want to pop in one last time to say goodbye.

They also have 30% discount of everything.

I don’t think people have that much money around here. It is difficult.

After paying
- stonking mortgage at £5k a month
- two sets of school fees at £5k a term
- two weeks villa holiday in Mallorca to keep up with the Jones at £5k a week
- car pcp plan at £5k every six months

You ain’t got much left. You need a £250k salary to pay for the above.

There ain’t much left. You get a £10 a head weekly treat for all the family at Franco sourdough and have to do without a tomato base because it costs £1more (which kinda makes it like cheese on toast)

The great and the good are being bled to death here. Living an average life on northcote road is difficult

God help us all.

It's a sad state of affairs.. Clapham has 2 more charity shops that we don't need. How about reasonable business rates, and more flexible parking for locals....

Not in my life time, I guess..  :x

Oh and Love My Human on the King's road is a great place for doggy grooming.. Not sure what happened to Barking Betty.. Diane and George on Battersea Park Road is another option... 🐶

Sloaney Donkey.... my heart bleeds.......

Mortgage.... consider downsizing.
There are some very good state schools around here.
Whilst one cannot guarantee the weather but Devon and Cornwall have some lovely areas for holidays.
PCP Car Finance is a way for people to 'afford' top of the range cars.... how about ditching the Range Rover or similar 'Chelsea Tractor' and jumping into a Nissan Qahqai, Probably would not need the PCP finance!

Wow Sloane Donkey, I think you have a problem if you feel you need to have a Range Rover to fit in.

With that attitude I don't feel sorry for you at all!

Easy to spend less money on holiday and go state school if you want to spend less.

Rule of 5

Get all the financial commitments you can costing £5000

£5000 a term schools

£5000 a week holidays

Blah blah blah

Surely that’s how everyone lives these days?

I mean, everyone on Northcote road does that, right ?

Keeps northcote road spinning

Except when I don’t have any free cash and can’t visit the stores because I spent my husbands £250000 a year salary before I even got there

Oh, I forgot

My nice kitchen was only five years old but all my friends got one from a high end shop (poggenpohl too common these days), complete with marble worktops taken from the colosseum in Rome

So I had to get it ripped out and a new one put in. We had to get a loan as it cost £55000 all in.

Kitchen is essential otherwise my old girlfriends would not want to visit my home, or allow their children to play at mine and I would be the poor relation visiting theirs

11 x 5 = 55000

Rule of 5. Spend in 5s.

And rely on the good old Bank of England to bail us out at everyone else’s expense when we bust the banks with our spending. Just like last time around.

I can remember the days walking past the Grape Shop on Northcote Road back in December 2009 and thinking to my self , another wine merchant scraping the barrel, a month later it was closed down, a livelihood lost a family broken.
This same site was reimagined into the then impressive Brissi, gone was the shabby Pepsi fridge and the cork counter, it was a time for glam and chic.

As a retailer in Battersea myself, I have seen so many shops come and go, for the independents who ran these stores, the future for these individuals and families is unsure, insecure and unstable, lets give a thought to those who are in this position of losing there jobs and have to restart there lives again, its not going to be easy.

A friend sent me this the other day!

When you buy from a small Business, you're not helping a C.E.O buy a third holiday home.
You're helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy his team jersey, mum and dad put food on the table

SHOP LOCAL!

NORTH AND SOUTH WINES.

Not with Brissi though, speaking as an insider who worked there for many years their whole company structure was set to off shore, they treated their base staff horrendously and the whole way it worked from the cheapest possible production, penny pinching and stashing of cash abroad no wonder this horeedbous business flopped.

Good riddance, it may be nice to look at but the entire build of it was crap. Most their furniture produced for Penny's in India and Chinq shipped over with an MDF core

It was not a lovely store, took the cash out the areas, fed only the two bosses off shore accounts. Sourced crap fake cheap furniture from India and they had to fight many intellectual court fights. Treated their staff like crap and lose their core base.

Speaking as an insider for many years. It's the crap business owners of these fledgling brands that get too greedy too quick when the cash flows in, then they kill themselves and bounce with 2 million of debt but way more hidden abroad.

The staff at the Fulham branch were very unhappy they had been told at such short notice the company was closing down. Having popped in I can't say I was impressed with the goods even at slashed prices. What you day makes sense.
