Review - Sharky & George Christmas Grotto 2019

Postby joNVN » Fri Nov 22, 2019 2:46 pm

NappyValleyNet were lucky enough to be invited to attend The opening night of the Sharky & George Christmas Grotto. I usually stick to no Christmas indulgence until 1st December, but for this we made the exception, the right decision! After an hour of full on Sharky & George Christmas fun and meeting the man himself, we are all in full on Christmas spirit 🎅

Once you find the Grotto entrance (just off Pavillion Road). You walk into a mini winter wonderland with fake falling snow and lots of Christmas elves providing fun entertainment for the children (including writing the all important letter to Father Christmas, which sweetly the information is used for your meeting with FC). Next you enter Father Christmas’s workshop through the wardrobe door.

Here, there were more entertaining games and stories while we waited for Father Christmas to arrive. And then he did! There was something so sweet about being in a group of very excited children and seeing their reactions when the man in red arrived. Very magical. We had a group story, and song with Father Christmas, before continuing with the party games, colouring Christmas Tree decorations and decorating gingerbread, while you wait for your individual meeting with Father Christmas. The Gingerbread decorating was a lovely inclusion (despite trying to stopping all 3 from eating all the biscuit decorations) After completing their designed biscuits, they then decorated the big gingerbread house set up in the workshop to display them.

Next meeting Father Christmas, who was fantastic. Very convincing (even our sceptical 7 year old was sold). Part of this was the pre -visit intel we were asked for, that Father Christmas used when chatting with the children. The result, (so far) are 3 well behaved children who are convinced that they met Father Christmas on his annual visit to London to check his good children list. They also got their first Christmas present from under the tree.

This Father Christmas experience was unlike anything else I’ve been to, as it was more like a fun Christmas children’s party . It was lovely to go somewhere that suited all three (7, 5, and 4) with so many games, entertainment and festive activities they were all happy - including a snowball fight at one point! My hope now is that this good behaviour will continue until 25th December!

The Sharky & George Christmas Grotto is open from 23rd November until 24th December.
Tickets are £27.50 per child for 1 hour experience
