Skylark open for take-out

Postby charlotte_admin » Wed Mar 18, 2020 1:52 pm

A note from our friends at Skylark:

Thank you for your ongoing support as we navigate these difficult times together. Please read on to hear about some temporary changes here at The Skylark Café, from Weds 18th March. We are following the government guidance closely as it evolves each day. Until this guidance changes, it is our intention to stay open, in some format, for as long as people want to visit us - to keep the café open for when this is over - and also to provide a place for our community to see and support each other. Even if we need to stay further away from each other (two metres!) for now.

The health and safety of our customers and employees is paramount. As such, from Weds 18th, we will be serving food (our normal menu) and drink as take-away only, from the counter window on our small terrace. Sadly the café doors will be closed for the time being. The public loos by the tennis courts/bowling green are open.

We have strict hygiene measures in place and we are so grateful to our customers for following the government guidelines as well, and for staying away if you or a member of your household have a continuous cough, a fever, or both.

Spring is arriving with its blossom and greenery, and we are lucky that there is plenty of open space and fresh air to be found on the beautiful Common, and outdoor seating on the terrace too.

Thank you so much for your understanding and for your support for the café, if we can help you too then please just ask.  If you have any questions about this email, please get in touch on hello@theskylarkcafe.co.uk

One way or another, we’ll get through this together.

Very best wishes,

All the team at The Skylark Café xx

The new set up at Skylark is looking fantastic this morning! Perfect halfway point for our gentle jog and kick of a ball on Wandsworth Common to start the day. We had service with a smile through the just open window and the offering is as delicious as ever - beware the sweet temptations in the window... :D

Never has it been more important to support our local businesses - thank you to Skylark for adapting so quickly to suit both your customers and your staff.

They’ve closed up. I saw something on Instagram last night about how many people were out on the common over the weekend and that not everyone’s keeping their distance. They’re following suit with the royal park cafes and closing, which must be such a tough but admirable decision. Bravo Skylark, I’ll be buying even more cake when you reopen xx

Re: Skylark open for take-out - now closed

Postby charlotte_admin » Mon Mar 23, 2020 8:25 am

Thank you, Lilybarsid.

Yes, Skylark took the tough decision to close last night. Here's their Instagram post:

Let's all flock back as soon as we're able!

We have decided to close from today until further notice.
.
We have tried the take away window and 2m queue distancing measures over the past few days. This went well in general (and a big thank you for your efforts) - but there are quite large numbers of people now coming on to the Common. More sunshine is coming this week and whilst in normal times that would make us dance with joy, these are anything but normal times. We do not want to be the cause of groups clustering in particular areas with the potential to exacerbate the spread and transmission of COVID-19.
.
Although staying open remains within government guidelines at the time of writing, we feel the responsible thing to do is to follow the example of our Royal Parks who have now closed their food outlets.
.
Our team members are fully supportive of the need to close for now to play our part in reducing the impact of this virus.
.
We will be opening again as soon as it is safe to do so.
.
Thank you for your support and we can’t wait to welcome you back once this is all over.
.
In the meantime please stay home as much as you can, keep safe, keep well and keep 2m apart!
.
