The New Normal Festival - shows for children this weekend!

Postby charlotte_admin » Wed Aug 12, 2020 12:15 pm

The New Normal Festival is underway at The Royal Patriotic Building and running throughout August with a great variety of shows, comedy and improvisation on offer for the whole family.

Particularly perfect for the children in your gang this weekend are:

Saturday 15th - 2pm - The Showstopper’s Kids Show

An improvised musical show for kids of all ages, presented by Olivier Award winning West End improvisers, The Showstoppers.
The performers will take your kids’ ideas and turn them into marvellous, musical adventures from scratch, right away and in front of your very noses.Together, you’ll explore magical kingdoms as the kids decide where the story is set, what happens next and who the characters are. You can even join in from your seat!Everything is made up on the spot entirely from your suggestions, but grown-ups take heed – we ONLY take suggestions from kids! If your children could create their very own dream musical – where would they start? A doll’s house? A magic castle? A spooky graveyard? From their imagination onto the stage – we’ll bring their ideas to life.   Showstopper! The Improvised Musical - winners of the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and Family 2016   ★★★★ ‘Funny, silly, uplifting and ridiculous, it’s a great kids’ show.’ THE LIST ... on/1603628

Sunday 16th - 2pm - Comedy Club 4 Kids

Since 2005, the Comedy Club 4 Kids has been getting the best stand-ups and sketch acts from the international circuit to do their thing for an audience of children (aged 6+) and their families… but without the rude bits! It’s just like a normal comedy club, but it's on in the day, kids are allowed in, and thus there is a higher than usual chance of the entire audience claiming to be called Bob.Suitable for ages 6+.Adults to sit with children in their party (and help explain anything they get stuck on)."A highlight for children in recent years, giving them a taste of some of the biggest names in comedy... with the fun, rowdy feel of a real comedy club" - The Guardian."Comedy Club 4 Kids has stand-up sets from grown-up, high-quality acts who perform their usual sets, just without the swearing or rude bits." - The Independent.[/font] ... ue/1601376

About the festival:The New Normal Festival takes place at the extraordinary Royal Victoria Patriotic Building. It looks like Hogwarts and it is hidden in Wandsworth Common. The stunning walled courtyard plays host to whole range of brilliant acts this August. The entire event is created with safety in mind, temperatures are taken on the way in, hand sanitiser is provided, the venue is rigourously cleaned and seating is socially distanced. The New Normal wants to let you relax and forgot about this year for an hour or two! The BBQ will be serving up sizzling food and the bar will be open for parents! Make this weekend one to remember.
