A motorcycle patrol officer at Nightingale Lane, SW12 at 4:45pm on Wednesday (November 18), came across two males riding a moped fitting the description of outstanding robbery suspects.

An incident ensued, as the officer followed the moped which, on seeing police, increased its speed in an attempt to make off.

A police spokesperson said:

"The moped collided with a Volvo car at the corner of Thurleigh Road and Devereux Road.

Both suspects made off from the scene, but the patrol officer was able to detain one in nearby garden.

The detained male had been injured in the collision. He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not life threatening, before being arrested on suspicion of aggravated theft of motor vehicle, possession of an offensive weapon and robbery.

The second male remains outstanding, while the occupants of the Volvo did not suffer lasting injuries."

Police enquiries continue.

Anyone who has information concerning the identity or whereabouts of the outstanding suspect is asked to call police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 4919/18NOV.
