Think twice about buying from the London Door company - any purchases before 2017 have no 10yr Warranty now.

London Door Company do make nice doors, but at a high cost - ours cost over £3K.

So when something recently went wrong after 7 years, I was more than disappointed to find out that their 10 year warranty is now useless / void for anyone who made a purchase before 2017 (when the company changed hands)... and this will happen again if they are sold on again.

Please think twice before buying from this company. I would never buy from them again.

Unless they went bust or did a pre-pack the warranty should remain valid even if the limited company is sold to a new owner . The new owner agrees in a sale to take on the liabilities of the company - warranties included - exceptions being administration when the warranties die with the bust company .

No idea if the London door company went bust or not , if they didn’t then i would say they are trying to fob you off on the warranty and the new owners are liable . Reading their terrible reviews sounds like something they would do to hob off a customer

Yeah I had a look on companies house , seems you are right . this PE funded group, BHID group , bought the assets, IP and trade via a new company in 2017 - not clear if a pre-pack but seems like it might have been and if so the liabilities remained with the old company . Shame for you , sorry .

Sometimes you can shame these new owners into honouring past warranties , after all they have bought the assets but ceded the liabilities . They have cheekily dropped the “THE” London door company .. as such trading off the back of past goodwill and pretending to be the old company .

Worth emails to the PE bosses at Alcuin Capital who own 49% of BHID. Google the email addresses and pepper the directors ! Worth a try , they might suddenly change their mind and assist with your door fix !

How disappointing to read this.

We were actually about to get a new door from them but having read this, I will now look elsewhere

Your info is spot on. The new owners made it very clear to me on the phone, that they have no intention to look after any issues that occur on doors bought before they purchased the company in 2017.

(The old owner of London Door company, sold out to this company in 2017 (when he retired)).

After writing this review, they actually come to fix my door, but were very clear that they wouldn't sort any more issues out and that I had to take down that review!

I would never go near this company again, as the new owners could also easily sell up, leaving their buyers in the same 'warranty-less' position.

Would love to hear any more up-to-date feedback of London Door Company.

Have the new owners bedded in and it's now working?

thinking of a new front door...

Try the Bespoke Front Door Company https://www.bespokefrontdoor.co.uk/ instead - they did a custom designed front door for us some years ago and were excellent.

Hi,

We used the London Door Company last year. I am afraid I would definitely not recommend them. The customer service was not good. It took over 4 months to get door fitted and the finish was of such poor standard they had to come back to fix it in site which was still not to the standard we expected. The door is now feeling a bit sticky…
We first used the London Door Company in 2013 on our previous house and they were great but I didn’t realise they had been bought by someone else in 2017.
I would say try to get more recommendations but personally I was hugely disappointed!
Good luck.

I remember when I was renovating my house, I spent a lot of time researching and investing in quality doors and windows. It's such a big decision, and you want to make sure you're getting something that will last.

It's disappointing when a warranty that's supposed to offer peace of mind turns out to be void or useless. £3K is a significant investment, and not having that warranty coverage after just 7 years is a letdown. It's a good reminder for others to thoroughly check the warranty terms and conditions before making a purchase, especially for big-ticket items like doors. When I was renovating, I looked into bespoke front doors and found some great options. They might have some alternatives worth considering if you're in the market for a new door in the future. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience to help others avoid similar pitfalls.
