Review of the new lunchtime menu at The Good Earth, Bellevue Road

Postby Community Editor » Fri Jun 02, 2023 2:54 pm

Recently the NVN team went to taste the newly revised lunch menu at the well-established Chinese restaurant The Good Earth. We could not have been happier knowing that our much loved local dining restaurant is also welcoming daytime clientele.

The Good Earth needs little introduction, as I’m sure you’ll agree, but here we would like to highlight the launch of their amazing lunch menu. Yes, that’s right, we’re perhaps guilty of the same…. only entertaining The Good Earth for dinner or evening takeaway. But they offer so much more! Lunchtime light bites are also on the menu, so you don’t need to trek to Soho for some quality Asian daytime delights. Stay local and support local.

Firstly, everyone is welcome, including children of all ages! Their staff are all so friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to make sure that your experience is exactly what you’re looking for. The interior is a feel good space with comfortable seating. A beautifully sky-lit dining room, adorned with a colourful glass fish masterpiece, adjacent to cheerful rainbow booths. Rest assured plenty of room for buggies and there are baby changing facilities too. There isn't a children's menu as such, as The Good Earth believes that their food should be a sharing experience for everyone at the table, whatever their age.

One may think a meal at The Good Earth is a little indulgent for lunchtime… however, the prices say otherwise and it's perfect for sharing with friends. Also we should add, their coffee is great!  Nothing stopping you from popping in for a coffee, or alternatively one of their Chinese teas. And did I mention there’s also a fully licenced bar, if your day just needs a little pick me up to accompany your meal!

Lunch Menu highlights:

Dim sum (dumplings) £5 for a basket of any three(a choice of 11 different fillings – meat, fish & vegetarian)
Who doesn’t LOVE a Steamed Bao bun for only £3.50  - a choice of meat or vegetarian. The trumpet mushroom that we tried were phenomenal – taste and texture just spot on. Such a treat and filling too. And the Chinese roast pork filled bao buns were dreamy clouds of deliciousness!

Salads for just £9  A Tangy Glass noodle salad with prawns or chicken, cucumber, coriander and chilli

Rice platters £13   a choice of five, including Chicken Katsu curry and their specialised deep fried tofu. Please try it, we’re all converts here!

Ramen soup bowls £13 a choice of meat or vegetarian, and who doesn't love a warming ramen at lunchtime?

All the food was sensational, seasonal and so authentic. But your food journey doesn’t need to finish there as The Good Earth has teamed up with Jefferson's Ice cream for delicious desserts; again local and fabulous!
