Northcote Road Summer Fete Sunday 15 July - all the details

Postby admin-caroline » Fri Jun 22, 2018 5:01 pm

It's just three weeks to go until the return of the very popular Northcote Road Summer Fete. Come along on Sunday 15 July between 11am and 6pm to share in all of the fun, including:

• A music stage.
• Children’s activities.
• Large outdoor screen for the Wimbledon Men’s Final
• A mixture of market stalls including traders selling goods, food & drink sellers and local
companies / organisations.
• Licensed pop-up bars selling alcohol.
• The local business community showcasing what’s so great about Northcote Road including
its impressive selection of independent shops and diverse food offering.

It's going to be a great family day out!

The World Cup final starts at 4pm. Someone's going to have to make a decision on whether to change channels

I'm afraid the football will not be shown on the big screen. Wimbledon coverage only. We hope any football fans will be able to join us prior to the final however :)

Oh dear. Let’s hope England aren’t in the final otherwise you’ll have a mass exodus! For future reference all the private schools in the area have already broken up so you may be down on numbers as many families go away as soon as the schools break up to make the most of the cheaper prices.

The event has been running for over 20 years now and traditionally has been run to coincide with the Wimbledon finals, so hopefully it is still very much in the diaries of many of the local families. We are expecting another great turnout and a fun day for all the family .

Yes I know and I’ve always really enjoyed it. I’m not trying to be negative - just pointing out that a lot of local families will be away. Wimbledon changed their dates last year - it used to be the last week in June and first week in July and now it’s the first two weeks in July so you’re well into the private schools summer hols - and this being an affluent area there are lots of families with kids at private schools who will be away and disappointed to miss it.

What a strange decision. I asked the organisers why, and didn’t get any explanation. Licensing cost maybe?

Seems like a wasted opportunity to me.
