Would anyone be interested in a French Playgroup over the summer?

Postby Zin-mum » Sat Jun 23, 2018 7:30 pm

Bonjour,

I've been trying to expose my little one to French, and French playgroups seem scarce. When I did find one, it was very expensive!

So I thought I'd start one in our (not spacious) living room over the summer. Would other mums be interested to join?

I live in the Tooting Bec area. I'm planning to have it at 10am on a Tuesday (flexible) for 45 mins, charging £2 (to cover stickers costs, cards etc) I plan to speak predominantly French during the playgroup for an immersive experience, with support in English when needed.

Just to be clear, I am not a teacher and do not claim to be an expert, I am simply a (now) stay at home mum from a French-speaking country. My limited experience has been setting up a French club for Key Stage 1 at my elder one's school (until my little one was born), and going in for French reading on French day at the school (with the little one in tow).

Please let me know if you would be interested, and your availability.

If it is popular, I might carry it on into September, with the timings then changing to the afternoon (as my little one will be at nursery in the mornings)

A bientôt!

Hello, is it definitely a 10 am start? We have booked a swimming crash course that starts at 11. And what age range?

Hello Star, thanks for your interest. For this coming Tuesday (17th of July) I could start earlier at 9.45am. Would that suit you?

In terms of age range, I'm targeting the 2-4 years old group. However, as it is the holidays, I'm happy for siblings to accompany. (I will have my own older one anyway)

Hi there, did you end up running the playgroup? I have a three month old. His father is French but I want to expose him to the language more as he spends most of his time with me. We are based in Earlsfield and would be keen to join if it's still going!
