‘Please can we have this again mummy?’ piped up my son at tea time which was met with unanimous agreement and much nodding of heads from my daughter and my husband who was home early! We were all polishing off second helpings of Indy Market’s delicious Baked Gnocchi filled with Mozzarella with a Tomato & Basil Sauce. The resounding verdict from everybody was ‘Yum’.
I’d had a bit of a morning and was looking at a complicated juggle for the end of the day and realised that I’d forgotten to defrost something for dinner. I was trying to work out when I could scoot to the shops to buy something that all 4 of us would eat and have on the table quickly, in between picking up and dropping off various children. Luckily Indy Market’s call to action lunchtime email landed in my Inbox. Perfect timing! I had been planning on giving their same day delivery family meals a trial since their recent launch and there was no time like the present. I quickly flicked through the menu of Easy Meals, clicked on the Gnocchi, ordered two portions, selected day and time slot for delivery, registered, paid. Done! It was very satisfying, mentally deleting that evening’s food shop gymnastics!
I like that the portions are for 2 so that if husband and I wanted to eat later we could and if different family members like different things e.g. vegetarian vs meat eaters, then this can easily be accommodated, fuss free and you could all still sit down together. Also the portions are generous. There are gluten free options too, plus sides and sweets as well as a new drinks menu including a lovely wine list and alcohol free options. It was the middle of the week so I stuck with the family meal, although a large glass of wine to go with was very tempting. I also had some French beans in the bottom of the fridge that needed eating so I skipped the sides options.
My one hour, 5.30pm to 6.30pm, chosen time slot came round very quickly. The doorbell rang and our Indy Market dinner had arrived. I read the menu card, turned on the oven, searched various cupboards to find my deep dish, assembled the contents in dish, sprinkled the cheese, and placed in the oven for 30 mins. Served with a side of fine beans we wolfed it down. Simples as my son keeps saying!
It came to £22 plus a £3 delivery charge and given that it was totally delicious, simple to order, arrived bang on time, took minimal prep and half an hour in the oven , was universally loved and took a whole chunk off my to do list, I think that’s money well spent.
Indy Market has the thumbs up from us and we are looking forward to having lots more of their family meals.
