Indy Market Review – Family Meals delivered same day

Postby Clare (Admin) » Thu Nov 15, 2018 2:18 pm

‘Please can we have this again mummy?’ piped up my son at tea time which was met with unanimous agreement and much nodding of heads from my daughter and my husband who was home early!  We were all polishing off second helpings of Indy Market’s delicious Baked Gnocchi filled with Mozzarella with a Tomato & Basil Sauce.   The resounding verdict from everybody was ‘Yum’.

I’d had a bit of a morning and was looking at a complicated juggle for the end of the day and realised that I’d forgotten to defrost something for dinner.  I was trying to work out when I could scoot to the shops to buy something that all 4 of us would eat and have on the table quickly, in between picking up and dropping off various children.  Luckily Indy Market’s call to action lunchtime email landed in my Inbox.   Perfect timing!  I had been planning on giving their same day delivery family meals a trial since their recent launch and there was no time like the present.  I quickly flicked through the menu of Easy Meals, clicked on the Gnocchi, ordered two portions, selected day and time slot for delivery, registered, paid. Done!  It was very satisfying, mentally deleting that evening’s food shop gymnastics!

I like that the portions are for 2 so that if husband and I wanted to eat later we could and if different family members like different things e.g. vegetarian vs meat eaters, then this can easily be accommodated, fuss free and you could all still sit down together.   Also the portions are generous.  There are gluten free options too, plus sides and sweets as well as a new drinks menu including a lovely wine list and alcohol free options.  It was the middle of the week so I stuck with the family meal, although a large glass of wine to go with was very tempting.  I also had some French beans in the bottom of the fridge that needed eating so I skipped the sides options.

My one hour, 5.30pm to 6.30pm, chosen time slot came round very quickly.  The doorbell rang and our Indy Market dinner had arrived.  I read the menu card, turned on the oven, searched various cupboards to find my deep dish, assembled the contents in dish, sprinkled the cheese, and placed in the oven for 30 mins.  Served with a side of fine beans we wolfed it down.  Simples as my son keeps saying!

It came to £22 plus a £3 delivery charge and given that it was totally delicious, simple to order, arrived bang on time, took minimal prep and half an hour in the oven , was universally loved and took a whole chunk off my to do list, I think that’s money well spent.

Indy Market has the thumbs up from us and we are looking forward to having lots more of their family meals.

Do you know if they do veggie meals as well? I always struggle to sort a quick veggie meal for some reason. Thanks.

Hi there Ruby - Chevs here from Indy Market! Yes we always have vegetarian options available, for example this week we have Handmade Pumpkin Tortellini with Pine Nuts and Sage Butter, and Smoked Cheddar Potato Cakes with our Big Bag Salad and there are always vegetarian add-ons. The menu changes weekly on a Saturday and you can order until 4pm for same day delivery (no subscription) - there's usually something for everyone and you can order in portions of two or four so everyone's happy! I’ve used them a few times and I have to agree they are really good. They fill a niche between the having to do all the prep yourself companies like Hello Fresh, and buying a ready meal from the supermarket. My son is a fussy eater but always wolfs down their food. I’m a vegetarian so it works well to order two dishes. You can order until quite late in the day for same day delivery. I had a couple of minor issues recently and the owners were at the end of the phone and sorted it all out quickly. If you’re too busy or too lazy to cook then they’re a godsend and very reasonably priced. Much nicer food and much cheaper than a restaurant delivery and they use eco-friendly packaging too. I’d never heard of them until a friend recommended them so I hope this thread gains them more customers.

I've been using Indy for over a year since a Mum on my street introduced me. It does make my life easier and we eat better.
I had done Gousto, Hello Fresh, Deli at Home and found it took longer than they suggested to prepare plus you're often out in the week and didn't eat the 3 meals. This is more like Cook, but fresh and for me it's a treat at the end of a hard day. My faves our the veggie dishes, (had Veggie Bastilla tonight) the mexican options and the lamb shanks. I believe the deal on PTA funding also applies to Allfarthing School in SW18:)
I'd recommend giving it a go!

Thanks Owenwe ! Indeed our special Christmas offer is currently running in both Allfarthing School (use code AllfarthingPTAOffer) and Floreat (use FloreatPTAOffer) - such an easy way to raise money for your PTA if you are a parent at any of these schools. If anyone else is interested in setting up a similar arrangement in their school just let me know - win win! Thanks:)
