A public consultation starts next week to find out what improvements local people would like to see at a playground on Wandsworth Common.
The council’s open spaces contractor Enable Leisure and Culture is asking for people’s views on the best way to spend £165,000 earmarked for an upgrade of the Chivalry Road playground.
Staff from Enable are holding two drop-in sessions where people can ask questions and find out more about the plans.

Wednesday, February 13 – 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Saturday, March 2 – 12noon to 3pm
This is the second stage of the consultation. This time last year people were asked for their views on what type of equipment they would like to see.
Based on the results, three designs have been developed, and now locals are invited to comment on which one they like best.
Because this is common land, there are strict guidelines on the style and height of the equipment and it will need to be sympathetic to the local area.

The consultation will close on Sunday, March 10.
*The improvements are being funded by the [url=file://ssa.root.lan/Dfs/Users/wendy.phillips/Downloads/wandsworth_local_fund.pdf]Wandworth Local Fund[/url] (WLF) – a charge the council puts on some developments to pay for the community infrastructure needed to support growth in the borough.
Residents are encouraged to bring ideas for neighbourhood improvements to their ward councillors to be considered for funding, which must meet the criteria based on priorities set by local people.
Several playgrounds have already or will soon be upgraded using WLF money, including Godley Gardens, St Mark’s, Battersea Park, Upper Tooting Park, Leaders Gardens, Garratt Park and Swaby Gardens. There are also current consultations on two other playground improvement schemes. You can still have your say on upgrades to Falcon Park and Fred Wells Gardens in Battersea.
