A man admitted himself to hospital late on Tuesday night after being shot in Clapham.
Police were called at 9.31pm to Bedford Road at the junction with Fenwick Place following reports of a firearm being shot.
Officers attended the scene, but there was no trace of any victims or suspects.
Then 15 minutes later, officers were alerted to a 24-year-old man who had presented at a south London hospital suffering from a gun shot wound to the leg.
The victim's injuries were declared not life-threatening and detectives have linked this injured person to the reported shooting.
A shell casing has been recovered and enquiries into the full circumstances continue.At this stage there have been no arrests.
