An annual report has revealed that over £700 us spent improving Putney Town Centre every day.

Positively Putney Business Improvement District says that the cash comes from the town centre’s businesses which have pulled together.

Over the last year, Putney’s town centre has benefitted from £266,073 of investment in the past year, totalling £729 per day.

According to the report here is what the money is being spent on:

£70,024 has been spent on making Putney cleaner and safer, this includes chewing gum removals, 150 hours of high street deep cleaning and covering 8 empty shops with vinyl ‘virtual windows’ to prevent graffiti.

£76,128 has been spent on promoting Putney’s businesses, this includes delivering brochures to 14,000 local residents, showcasing the area’s food and drink offering through the ‘Taste of Putney’ fortnight, and hosting events such as the Christmas lights switch-on.

£41,202 has been spent on supporting businesses, this includes organising regular training sessions on subjects such as first aid and counter terrorism attended by 105 local employees, introducing a loyalty card scheme offering discounts for Putney employees and identifying cost savings for businesses when it comes to their bills and operating costs.

Nicola Grant, Executive Director of Positively Putney BID, said:“Putney’s Business Improvement District is led by businesses, for businesses, and we exist to promote Putney and make it clean and safe for visitors, shoppers and residents.

"I’m pleased to report that we have listened to the priorities of our local businesses and carefully invested in them – be it deep street cleaning, regular training for employees or hosting events showcasing the best Putney has to offer. If we get this right, our shops and traders will thrive for years to come.

Positively Putney’s 2018/19 annual report was presented at the AGM at Le Fez in June 2019 and can be accessed at: positivelyputney.co.uk
