Paddling pool in Wimbledon Park unlikely to open this summer

Postby Community Editor » Wed Aug 07, 2019 9:25 am

The Friends of Wimbledon Park posted a statement on Facebook notifying the public that the paddling pool would likely remain closed for the rest of the summer.

Oonagh Moulton, Wimbledon Park Ward Councillor, shared the latest response she received regarding the Paddling Pool from Chris Lee, Director of Environment and Regeneration at Merton Council.

‘I am so sorry that this facility is out of action, however the site is in need of significant work due to the significant failure of the water filtering mechanism amongst other items . I understand it would be unsafe to open it . I have asked Doug Napier (Green spaces Manager) to prepare a bid for monies to invest in the facility but I am doubtful that it will be available this summer. I believe it may require significant capital and he is assessing the works required as quickly as possible.’

Rather disappointingly for many families, it looks unlikely that the Paddling Pool will open this summer.
