Tooting Foodival festival this Saturday September 14

Postby Community Editor » Thu Sep 12, 2019 1:32 pm

Tooting Foodival is this Saturday from 11am to 5pm. It is a celebration of locally grown produce cooked by local cooks for the community. This year it will be taking place at  Mushkil Assan at 222 Upper Tooting Road and on Hereward Road.

Last year the festival had over 700 people indulge in the “Big Feast” – a three course meal cooked by popular local chefs using only locally grown produce.

This year the organisers are promising a “Feast for the Senses” that celebrates local growing, home cooking and general wellbeing for all.

Come and join in the fun, bring your family, friends and neighbours – it’s FREE and all are welcome.

Here is a taste of what’s to come:

- Fresh, locally grown produce from home growers, allotment holders and local farmers will be donated the day before the event to be cooked up by local chefs on the day.

- Plants and fresh local produce will be on display, showcasing the diversity of fruit and vegetables that is grown right on our doorstep in Tooting and the surrounding areas.

- Enjoy a delicious 3 course meal for £1 a course!

There will be a full roster of live music by local artists throughout the day, as well as street art and a creative workshop conducted by local artist Nikki, plus a plethora of boutique stalls selling homemade items including cushions, honey, jams and chutneys, gluten free cakes and breads, candles, plant pots and more.

In a drive to highlight the adverse effect plastic has on the planet and marine life, the organisers of Foodival 2019 will again designate the area a plastic free zone.
