Where to watch the Rugby World Cup in Nappy Valley and beyond

Postby Community Editor » Wed Sep 18, 2019 7:22 am

Watching the Rugby World Cup 2019 will require some serious dedication, given the matches will be beamed from Japan in the early hours of the morning – some kicking off as early as 4.15am!

Fortunately, England’s earliest kick off in Pool C is 9am (versus Argentina on Sat 5 Oct), and the knock out stages won’t kick off till earliest 8.15am. Still, breakfast viewing is the order of the day, and these are the Nappy Valley and other London venues pulling out all the stops…

Youngs Pubs, across London
20 September-2 November

Youngs Pubs will be screening the Rugby World Cup in may of its pubs across London – just check this handy search function to find your nearest.

A number of pubs are also offering Rugby World Cup Brunch Packages, including famed rugby pubs like The Alexander Pope in Twickenham (because you want to be close to the beating heart of English rugby, right?), The Ship in Wandsworth, The Windmill in Clapham, The Alexandra in Wimbledon, The Roebuck in Hampstead and plenty more.

Again, check Youngs’ handy search function where you can plug in your location and the kind of pub you’re after.

There are also a few special offers running: Head to Brook Green in Hammersmith for a free pint of Guinness, Ketel One Bloody or Virgin Mary with the set brunch menu; The Waterfront in Battersea for a complimentary first round of Heineken when you pre-book a table for four or more; or enjoy indulge in a Full English breakfast and a pint of Heineken for £16 at The Adam and Eve when pre-booking a table.

Three Cheers Pub Co, various locations
22 September-2 November

Three Cheers Pub Co pubs, which include The Bedford in Balham, The Avalon in Clapham and The Rosendale in West Dulwich, will be showing all the action this Rugby World Cup (with the exception of The Bolingbroke, which remains a sports-free zone).

The pubs will open at 8am for breakfast during the early morning home nation games and final stage matches. From eggs Benedict to Full Englishes, Bloody Marys to alcohol-free beers, kombuchas to cocktails, breakfast matches are very well catered for – and all breakfast dishes are just £10 each.

The Bedford will have three HD TVs and three giant projectors, The Avalon will have two HD TVs and two giant projectors, The Abbeville will have a large screen and 100” projector, The Latchmere will have three HD TVs and two giant screens, The Princess Victoria will have a large projector in the dining room and two large HD TVs in the bar, The Stonhouse will have two HD TVs, The Tommyfield will have a 12 foot projector and two HD TVs, and The Rosendale will have a large HD TV and one large projector screen. Most venues even have the option to book a private room.
