Best Christmas Sandwiches 2019

The arrival of the Pret Christmas sandwich marks the official start of London's Christmas sandwich season. Here are a few favourites. Happy eating!

 EAT's Roast in a Yorkshire Pudding Wrap
This is the last festive season for EAT which has been bought up by Pret and will see the stores changing over to Pret in 2020. But for now, enjoy this, their ultimate Christmas treat - succulent turkey, pork, sage & onion stuffing and bacon with sage mayonnaise and cranberry sauce, all rolled up in a giant Yorkshire pudding wrap. From £4.99. Available from 6 November.

 PAUL's Festive Pig Sandwich
New to the PAUL range this year is their Festive Pig Sandwich (£4.65). It features pigs in blankets inside in a crusty bacon & onion baguette with Brussels sprouts, chargrilled red onion, and plum and balsamic chutney. Best of all - 50p from each sold goes to the Felix Project. Available from 5 November.

Pret's Christmas sandwich
Londoners love a Pret Christmas sandwich and this year the company have approached the festive season mainly in a 'if it ain't broke' spirit. So 5 November sees the return of all your old favourites - with one main exception. New this year is the Pret’s Christmas Lunch on Gluten-Free Bread. It features free-range turkey, herby pork stuffing and port & cranberry sauce with mayo on top of a thick slice of Pret's gluten-free seeded bread.

M&S's Yule Hog Roll
Along with the return of all manner of turkey sarnies and wraps, Marks & Spencer have brought in this meaty marvel (we had an early preview and can attest to its stomach lining capabilities. It's a brioche sub roll filled with British pulled pork, onion mayo, apple sauce, pork, sage & onion stuffing and with some rocket and crispy onions to make you feel like it's not all bad for you. £3.50. Available from 30 October.

Sainsbury's Christmas Market Sandwich
If you're after a lunchtime treat that "transports you straight to a traditional German Christmas market" then give this a go, from the Sainsbury's new festive range. Part of a range of nine sarnies, this is a brioche roll filled with ham hock, pickles, sauerkraut and tasty beer mayonnaise. It's £3 and on sale from 4 November.

Paul's All About The Sprout Sandwich
Brand new to Paul for Christmas is this fabulous looking vegan sarnie - a combo of houmous, roasted Brussels sprouts, spinach, pickled red cabbage, grilled carrots and chestnuts with orange jam and old English chutney, stuffed into a cranberry,onion and sage baguette. It's £4.25 and on from 5 November.

Bayou Bar's Christmas Po Boy

Over in Tooting, Bayou Bar has gone for a Louisiana take on Christmas. This £8.50 sarnie features turkey schnitzel with a gingerbread crumb, cheese, pickled red cabbage and a cranberry chilli jam all in a glazed soft white long roll. Oh and they're putting on cranberry daiquiris too to go with it. On from 3 December.
