Christmas in Wandsworth - dates for your diary!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We are getting in the festive mood here at NVN headquarters and we've got a lot of jolly dates for you to get your Christmases kickstarted!

Upcoming events include:  

28 November – The lights in Clapham Junction, St John's Hill, St John's Road and Lavender Hill will be switched on at 5pm. 

29 November – Northcote Road Light Ceremony. Carol singers from local schools will walk down Northcote Road from 4.30pm, converging on the junction of Bennerley Road.  The lights will be turned on at 5.30pm. Shops will stay open late and Santa will have a grotto.   

29 November – Putney Light Night. Riverside Radio will launch proceedings from 3pm from Church Square, Putney. Have fun with the Winter Wonderland inflatable snow globe (pictured below) and enjoy performances from local school choirs and local theatre companies, plus live bands from 7pm. The lights will be switched on at 6pm.    

1 December – Northcote Road Christmas Market. Browse around a hundred market stalls, plus a stage, a kids' zone and a chance to meet The Minions. 

1 - 24 December – The Nine Elms Advent Calendar. A new Christmas carol-themed ‘window’ will be revealed each night in community centres, local businesses and other venues across the Nine Elms area. 

3 December – the Battersea Square Christmas tree lights will be turned on by the Mayor of Wandsworth at 7pm, plus carol singing and entertainment.  

4 December – The Mayor of Wandsworth will  attend the Southfields LightsCeremony in Replingham Road at 4.30pm, and special guest Annabel Croft will switch on the lights, plus enjoy Santa’s grotto, a lantern procession, carol singing, music and entertainment.  

4 December – The Battersea Bridge Chrstmas tree lights will be turned on at 6pm, plus a chance to sing some carols.  

6 December – Micham Lane Christmas Lights ceremony, Tooting 3.30pm-5.30pm. 

7 December – Ram Quarter Festive Market, Wandsworth. Go along between noon and 6pm for street food, crafts and the Sambrook’s craft beer tent, plus carol singing from local schools. 

8 December – Balham Christmas Lights Switch-On. Go along to Bedford Hill Place from 1pm for family entertainment, live music, mulled wine and treats. The lights will be switched on at 4.30pm.

11 December -  Tooting Christmas Tree lights ceremony, outside St Nicolas Church at the junction of Mitcham Road. 4pm-5.30pm, including presentation of prizes by the Mayor of Wandsworth for children’s art competition.  

13-21 December – Light Up Nine Elms. Beautiful animated projections of elm trees on nine buildings. Discover the illuminations while enjoying a night out in Nine Elms or follow organised trails. 

15 December – Upper Richmond Road Christmas Fair, Putney. Local businesses and stores will be offering festive treats and a kids’ Christmas trail. 

18 December – Festive celebrations for the whole community in Nine Elms at the ROSE Christmas party. Go along to the ROSE Community Clubroom from 5pm.
