Openings and closures in Battersea - eateries, shops and a beauty salon

The streets around Battersea are changing rapidly so much so that it is hard to keep up!

Here is a round up of some very recent changes.

Openings

A new greek restaurant / cafe / bar
is coming to 78 Northcote Road in place of Jan, the short-lived Caspian restaurant.

Knoops, a chocolate drinks specialist cafe is opening in February serving hot chocolate, milkshakes, chocolate milk, mochas and coffees - sounds dreamy - on St John's Road next to the British Heart Foundation shop.

Windfall Natural is a wellness shop (or wonderland) with gorgeous natural foods and products that has opened at 92 Northcote Road. Visit this Saturday 18th January from 10am - 7pm to sample some of their gorgeous goodies!

House of Beauty has opened on 93 Northcote Road for massages, facials, nails and all things beauty. How about a New Year's treat for yourself? You know you want to...

Sweetsmile Bakery and Patisserie has opened at 31 Lavender Hill and we are all very excited about finally having a bakery in this part of Battersea. Top tip, try the custard tarts. They are to die for!

Fat Crab is coming to 59 Lavender Hill. This place sounds really intriguing - Sri Lankan home cooked style food eaten out of steam bags. No cutlery, just your hands - that's one way to cut down on waste!

Mera is another seafood restaurant in town at 74 Battersea Rise. The chef has come from swanky restaurant in Mayfair, Novikov so we have high hopes for this one.

Closures

Northcote Music closed over Christmas and it's with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Andy, the musical owner.

Ben's Canteen in Clapham Junction has closed and we are sad to see another yummy independent go. Owner, Ben announced the closure over Christmas. Looks like he is continuing with his gin distillery in Earlsfield though.

Mountain Warehouse on Northcote Road is closing down soon after what doesn't seem very long after opening. They are holding an up to 70% sale on all their stock.

It's a sad goodbye to some and an open armed welcome to all the new businesses in town. We wish you all the best and hope to see you here for many years to come!

Sad to hear that White Stuff on Northcote Road is having to close due to their landlord not being willing to reduce rent during the current challenging trading conditions. Apparently White Stuff has been on Northcote Road for 30 years and this is where White Stuff had its first proper shop, so the end of an era.
