Police launch appeal after dog suffers severe injuries to its neck, face and leg from attack in Wandsworth

Police have launched an appeal after a dog suffered severe injuries during an attack.

A lady and her child were walking along Allfarthing Lane on January 14 with their dog Dakota, when they saw a man approaching them who was "clearly not in control of a large ginger Dogue De Bordeaux.

"As the sizeable animal drew near, it launched to attack the small Shitzu, causing severe injuries to its neck, face and leg by thrashing it around," Wandsworth Police said.

"Members of the public who valiantly intervened to help, also sustained minor injuries whilst putting themselves in harm’s way to get this large dog off of Dakota.

"Managing to get the two dogs separated, the owner and dog left prior to our arrival."

Dakota was rushed to an emergency surgery at a Vet Hospital in Kingston.

Dakota thankfully survived and is on its way to recovery.

Now police have launched an appeal for information.

"The male is described as white, in his early 30’s with short dark hair, dark glasses and a thin/frail frame," Wandsworth Police added.

"Someone must know the owner of the dog and will need to be spoken to in relation to this incident.

"If you saw anything, please do contact us so we can stop this dog hurting anyone further as the owner, by all accounts we received, was not able to control the dog."
