A petition has been launched shttp://chng.it/6ctBkNnMN6 asking Northcote Road landlords to give rent concessions to help local shops and restaurants survive the current crisis. This has been prompted by news that White Stuff , which has been on the road for over 20 years, is due to close as it has not been able to agree a reduced rent with its landlord. Retail was already struggling, but now shops and restaurants have been closed for months and once they re-open their takings will be dramatically reduced due to social distancing measures. Without support and flexibility from landlords many of our much-loved local businesses could disappear, resulting in yet more empty shops and changing the character of Northcote Road forever.
Please sign the petition shttp://chng.it/6ctBkNnMN6 (it’s very quick and easy to do) and share it as widely as you can - many people travel from outside the area to Northcote Road for the shops and resaturants. You could also consider writing to the Northcote Ward councillors and the local MP:
