Transition Town Tooting hosting on and offline socially distanced celebrations this Saturday 4 July

Postby Community Editor » Tue Jun 30, 2020 8:57 am

This Saturday July 4th, community sustainability group Transition Town Tooting is hosting a celebration of Tooting community resilience, kindness and inventiveness – on and offline!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It'll be the 10th anniversary of the 2010 Tooting Trashcatchers’ Carnival and everyone is invited in a socially distanced way of course!

Central to the event was the West African mythical Sankofa Bird, which will be travelling around Tooting to ask how people have been getting on during the pandemic. The day will include 2 community online Zoom meetings, and local socially distanced outdoor events, where people can visit the bird (public safety measures will be strictly adhered to).⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Children are also being asked to send in pictures of what kind of world they would like to see after lockdown. Send them to Transition Town Tooting via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using #sankofareturn⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Full details of the online and offline events can be found here - http://transitiontowntooting.blogspot.com
