As part of its preparations in drawing up a new planning and architectural blueprint for the borough, the council is consulting local residents and businesses on a new Urban Design study.

The study will consider Wandsworth’s buildings and public spaces and capture the character of local areas and neighbourhoods. This will then help shape the borough’s Local Plan – a blueprint that will set priorities for future development in the borough.

Local Plans are designed to balance the needs of residents, businesses and visitors with protecting and enhancing the borough's buildings, landscapes and heritage.

The design study will create a background against which new development can be balanced with protecting and enhancing what makes Wandsworth such a special place to live, work and visit.

The Urban Design study divides the borough into a series of distinct ‘character areas', which can be seen on an interactive map here https://haveyoursay.citizenspace.com/wa ... sult_view/ where people will be able to view each area’s special features and comment on their merits.

The consultation will help ensure the council continues to meet local needs and wishes when it comes to the built environment. The consultation continues until September 30 and can be viewed on the council’s website here https://haveyoursay.citizenspace.com/wa ... sult_view/
