London Concertante Launch Autumn Season!

Postby LondonConcertante » Mon Sep 28, 2020 5:28 pm

After the stunning success of their Secret Garden Concert initiative in August, selling out every concert in the series and giving a total of 47 musicians the opportunity to perform and a dozen catering staff to have work, London Concertante are thrilled to be able to launch their first set of indoor concerts since March. In close collaboration with Southwark Cathedral, one of their few regular venues who have been willing to allow the ensemble to perform in the current climate, they have been working tirelessly to facilitate a series of safe, socially distanced concerts for the public that has been starved of live music for the last 7 months.

The arts have been arguably one of the hardest-hit sectors during the Coronavirus crisis, yet musicians and actors, as well as all those across the arts, have tried to find inventive ways of reaching their audiences, and London Concertante has been no exception. With their Spring/Summer season wiped out, at a loss of nearly over half their annual turnover, they've been thinking of new and exciting ways in which they can reach out to their audience before concerts are allowed to resume. After a sold-out 'trial' concert in early September at Southwark Cathedral, London Concertante has programmed a total of seven concerts in the stunning church over the course of October and November, featuring a special series of concerts performed by London Concertante Soloists. Surrounding this mini-series will be performances of Vivaldi's iconic work, The Four Seasons, and all of these concerts will be performed by candlelight.

The ensemble and the Cathedral have ensured that all these events will comply with all COVID regulations, including all seating being socially distanced, hand sanitiser being readily available, masks being compulsory when inside the cathedral and a track and trace programme being carried out via QR code. The events also comply with the 'rule of 6', and they also comply with the 10pm curfew as all the concerts are scheduled to finish by 9:30pm.
