Large knife seized after stop and search in Tooting. Officers from the Violent Crime Taskforce (VCTF) have seized a large Rambo knife in Tooting after they stopped and searched a man.

Around 12:40pm on Tuesday, 27 October officers were on proactive patrol on Trinity Road when they saw a man riding an electric scooter on the pavement.

The officers stopped the 19-year-old man and carried out a search, concealed in his trousers was a Rambo knife. It was seized and the man was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon. He currently remains in police custody.

Sergeant Leon Coltress of the VCTF said: “The weapon seized today could have caused serious harm if we hadn’t conducted this stop and search, proving just how valuable this tactic is.

“Tackling violence is our top priority and we will continue to target those who carry weapons and commit offenses.”

Communities also have a vital role to play in tackling violent crime and we urge anyone who may have information to tell the police, so that they can tackle violence together. They need information about crime or those who carry a weapon, or those that exploit people for gain or revenge, while putting young people’s lives at risk. Community intelligence can be used to great effect to not only detect, but also prevent crime, keep London safe and save young lives.

If you don’t want to speak to the police, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. They are a totally independent charity and you remain 100 per cent anonymous, they never ask your name and they cannot trace your call, your IP address or device you use.
