A man who sexually assaulted and violently threatened a commuter on the Tube is being hunted by police. The attack happened on a southbound Northern line service on Monday August 3, between 6am and 6.30am. The female victim was sitting down on the train as it travelled between Elephant and Castle and Balham, when she was approached by a man. Without warning, he suddenly sat down next to her and sexually assaulted her. He then pulled drugs from his pocket and offered them to the victim, before asking her to get off the train with him to take the drugs.

The man threatened her saying he had a knife. As the train arrived at Balham station, both the victim and the man got off the train separately. She left the station and walked down a nearby street and noticed the man was walking on the other side of the road. She then walked back towards Balham station for her safety and did not see the man again.

British Transport Police have now issued a public appeal as the offender remains at large. Officers believe the man in the CCTV image may have information which could help the investigation. If anyone recognised this man or has information, they are urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40.
