A daring protestor has climbed on top of a crane on a building site in Wandsworth this morning, sparking an emergency services response.

Met Police have closed the roads around Nine Elms Lane as a precaution, and say they have been at the scene trying to engage with the man for several hours.

It has now emerged that the man is a 69-year-old protestor carrying out a 'death-defying daredevil act of solidarity for Palestine', according to pro-Palestine activist account on Twitter.

The man is up there with 'no safety net', and he is reportedly planning on remaining up on the crane, overlooking Vauxhall Bridge, 'for days'.
