Streatham Hill Vets have also posted a warning on their Facebook account about parovirus and are recommending giving puppies under 12 months a third vaccination to help ensure immunity:
Growing cases of PARVOVIRUS have been appearing in the South London area!
Sadly parvovirus can turn an active and healthy puppy severely sick in a matter of hours. We are unsure if these cases are a result of increased numbers of puppies, inadequate vaccination at the breeders, or possibly a new strain. But this terrible disease has even been seen in vaccinated dogs!
This means we have to be super careful and alert to the symptoms to protect our precious pups against this terrible disease.
In response to the increase in parvovirus cases and to ensure your puppy is safe, we recommend you get any puppy under 12 months old a 3rd vaccination to ensure immunity.
To help you be alert to parvovirus you should be looking out for symptoms in your dog which include:
Bloody diarrhoea
Vomiting
Fever
Lethargy
