20-year-old man is in a life-threatening condition after reports of a gun and knife fight near Wandsworth Road

Police were called at 3.30am last Saturday morning (June 18) after five men – aged in their 20s – self-presented themselves at two south London hospital with gunshot and knife injuries.

One of the victims remains in a life-threatening condition.

Police say that all five victims were injured during a fight near Wandsworth Road where a gun was fired.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting the reference CAD 1192/18Jun.

Detective Sergeant Matt Doohan, who is leading the investigation, said: “The investigation into this offence, and what took place, is in its early stages.

“This incident has occurred in the very early hours of Saturday morning when members of the public were likely to have been asleep.

“However, we need the support and help of our communities to bring those individuals who are willing to endanger others by using firearms and knives on the streets of London to justice and to help us in preventing further people from being injured in similar circumstances.

“If you do not wish to speak with police, and to stay completely anonymous, please contact the charity Crimestoppers.”

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after five people were injured in south London.

“Police were called at about 03:30hrs on Saturday, 18 June after five men – aged in their 20s – self-presented at two south London hospitals with gunshot and knife injuries.

“At this stage, it is believed that all five were injured during a disturbance close to Wandsworth Road, SW8 during which a shotgun was discharged.

“One of the victims, aged 20 years old, remains in a life-threatening condition.

“Trident detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation and are working closely with their colleagues on the Central South Command Unit.

“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 1192/18Jun.
