Wandsworth Connected: Summer Fun is run by Wandsworth Council in partnership with community organisations, schools, businesses and children themselves.

Activities, advice and support are all available to view and book in one place for young people and their families. It is a chance for children and families to come together as a community and be playful and have fun.

It includes the free Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme providing targeted support, including a free meal, for children on free school meals, but there will be fun things to do for all Wandsworth children to do, whatever their background. Activities take place at venues all over the borough including local playschemes, parks, children’s centres, playgrounds, youth clubs, libraries and community centres. Most activities will be free or low cost to help families struggling financially. The fun will include sport, arts and crafts, cooking, drama, music, trips out, summer schemes and much more. Time well-spent over the holiday period can promote positive social development, improved mental health and emotional wellbeing and readiness for learning ahead of the new academic year.

There will also be Get Connected Hubs at easy to reach venues where families can connect with their local community and get support. Local organisations, advisors and council officers will be on hand to answer questions and provide advice on a range of issues. The aim is for hubs to support residents, building stronger, more resilient communities.

The council’s Director of Children’s Services Ana Popovici said: “Before we organised Wandsworth Connected, we asked children and young people what they wanted this summer.

“They have told us they want to have fun with their friends, meet new people and take part in projects where they can have their voice heard. They also want to build up their self-confidence and learn life skills, including skills that will help them get a job in the future.

“We have listened and Wandsworth Connected: Summer Fun will be a comprehensive package of support, activities and, most importantly, fun!”

Find out more and book your place.

More activities will be added as the summer progresses, so keep checking in.
