London's newest ice rink - Glide at Battersea Power Station

Postby Community Editor » Thu Oct 06, 2022 2:59 pm

IMG and Battersea Power Station have unveiled plans and illustrations for Glide at Battersea Power Station, London’s brand new and only riverside ice rink.

Opening to the public on 11 November 2022 and set against a backdrop of one of the capital’s most iconic buildings, the ice rink at Battersea Power Station will be the most magnificent open-air ice rink in the city. From the team who brought you the Natural History Museum Ice Rink and Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, it is set to be THE number one must-do activity this winter.

Tickets available from Friday 7 October at glidebatterseapowerstation.com.

On the ice, skaters of every level will have the space and time to show off their skills on the most uniquely shaped ice rink in London. Gone are the days of just one simple rectangular rink, Glide at Battersea Power Station features three interconnecting rinks with a spectacular 30ft Christmas tree as its centrepiece.

Whether it’s a picture-perfect date night, a place for keen skaters to test their blades, skating lessons for beginners or weekend family trips supported by penguin skate aids for children, the rink provides festive fun for everyone.

Off the ice, there is plenty to enjoy including a selection of vintage-style fairground rides, live entertainment, and photo booths. A selection of fabulous food and drink venues will also be available at the Grade II* listed Power Station, which opens its doors to the public for the first time in history from Friday 14th October, including Le Bab, Where The Pancakes Are, Poke House, Clean Kitchen Club, Paris Baguette and Joe & The Juice. These are also complemented by a great mix of bars and restaurants open in Circus West Village, the first chapter in the regeneration of Battersea Power Station, including Sugen Gopal’s Roti King, Tapas Brindisa, Wright Brothers’, Vagabond Wines, Megan’s at the Power Station, Battersea Brewery, Francesco Mazzei’s Fiume and Chef Vivek Singh’s Cinnamon Kitchen to name a few.

Visitors to Glide at Battersea Power Station will also be able to enjoy a spot of Christmas shopping inside the Power Station and on Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrianised high street for London.

Stephen Flint Wood, EVP & Managing Director at IMG said:
“We are delighted to be staging the first ice rink at one of London’s most iconic buildings. As the city’s newest winter attraction and after the remarkable renovation of this landmark site, we expect Glide at Battersea Power Station will be extremely popular and recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.”

Simon Murphy, CEO at Battersea Power Station, said:
“This will be our first Christmas following the public opening of the Power Station on 14th October and what better way to celebrate than with our biggest and best Christmas offering to date. With London’s first riverside ice rink, great food and drink venues, and an exciting mix of British and international retail brands, it’s going to be the place to visit this festive season to enjoy quality time with friends and family, as well as a spot of Christmas shopping.”
