A main road running close to Clapham Junction station was cordoned off on Sunday afternoon.
A number of emergency service vehicles were seen on St John’s Road, with at least two London Fire Brigade vehicles stationed outside Debenhams.
But police soon confirmed that the incident was down to concerns over the structure of a building on the road and police have said the landlord of the building has been made aware.
