For the first time, commuters at Clapham Common Underground Station can change the lives of the homeless every time they buy a coffee.
The Mayor of London, Transport for London and Change Please are on a mission to change the lives of ex-homeless people by providing them with barista roles at Underground station kiosks
The coffee kiosk at Clapham Common Underground is the first London underground kiosk, staffed by ex-homeless individuals and there are plans for more across the capital.
Located at the entrance to Clapham Common underground station to the right of the barriers, the Change Please kiosk will serve a range of coffees and hot drinks.
With 100% of profits going back into the mission, every cup of coffee sold will directly help Change Please train and support homeless individuals.
The coffee has won several awards, including Great Taste Awards 2017 and 2018, and a Quality Food Award, 2018.
Change Please is also working with a Clapham Common shelter, Ace of Clubs. Commuters can purchase £1 Ace of Clubs meal cards at the kiosk, which will provide a hot meal for someone who really needs it.
Since 2010 the number of rough-sleepers in London has doubled, with homeless people often seeking warmth and safety on TfL’s network.
