Not everyone employed by Wandsworth Council is paid the London Living Wage

Postby Community Editor » Mon Nov 19, 2018 7:33 am

Everyone who works for Wandsworth Council should be paid the London Living Wage (LLW), according to a report to be discussed by councillors.

The paper, written by Labour opposition councillor Andy Gibbons, claims the move would help increase social mobility and motivate workers.

The LLW is higher than the government-set minimum and living wages, because it is worked based on the cost of living in London, and It is currently £10.55 an hour.

All direct council employees are already paid the LLW, but Cllr Gibbons argues this should be extended to contractors too.

I agree

As great as it is to have such a low council tax bill, it shouldn’t be at the expense of those who work there not being able to earn a proper amount to live on

Just descovering another illegal “fudge” by Wandsworth Council.
Abusing the rules of the Direct Service a Organisation (DSO).
In order to cheat private firms from winning contracts, WBC exploits migrant workers to abuse the rules on compulsory tendering.
The fact that this is tax evasion doesn’t seem to bother them!
That is.... until they are found out!
They pretend these workers are officially “theirs” but avoid training, pensions, welfare and definitely the Living Wage!
