What does ‘virtual learning’ look like for you?

Postby cwmack » Tue Mar 31, 2020 4:36 pm

Hi all
I am curious to hear what schools - state and private - are providing for at-home learning (at the KS2 level).
Are most doing homework packs? Regular online/interactive sessions with teachers? A mix?
These are extraordinary times and stressful for all, including teachers who are also caring for key workers’ children — so really not looking to ignite a complaining session! Just genuinely wondering what best practices are emerging, particularly as there doesn’t seem to be official/government guidance on this.
Thank you!

Our school is using Canvas which is ok for homework or assignments during holidays but not really a "full time learning"tool. Myself and other parents have already contacted our school asking to look at implementing Google classroom or something similar if this lock-down continues for a long time (which is likely). They have replied that they are NOT interested in live video streaming the lessons for safeguarding reasons  ...other schools are able to navigate the safeguarding issues...
