Dulwich Picture Gallery Gardens re-open

Postby charlotte_admin » Tue Jul 07, 2020 12:30 pm

Our outdoor spaces, pop-up shop and café have re-opened

As the world’s first purpose built art gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery was designed for the public to enjoy – and we can’t wait to welcome you back to our gardens as they burst into life this summer.

Here's a message from Jennifer Scott, The Sackler Director, Dulwich Picture Gallery:

We know how much our visitors have missed the chance to explore our gardens and enjoy this peaceful setting. Our three acres of outdoor space offers the opportunity to be amongst nature while enjoying art and architecture including Sir John Soane’s incomparable exterior of the Gallery, our Walking the Dog sculpture by Peter Randall Page, and our majestic trees. I very much look forward to welcoming you back.

This is a critical time for the Gallery’s future, particularly as we don’t receive government or local authority funding. We will only be able to re-open the Gallery itself and re-launch our exciting exhibition programme once we know that we can ensure everybody’s safety and that we are able to cover the costs. This is not something that we can rush, and I am enormously grateful to everyone for supporting us through the most challenging time for us since the Second World War. We are working hard to plan for a full re-opening in the autumn.

Please follow us on social media @DulwichGallery or are signed up to our mailing list for updates.
