Use your garden design skills to help the community!

Link Up London supports local charitable organisations connect with skilled individuals on short-term, structured volunteer projects that can help them have a bigger impact within their communities.

Who we're looking for: We are looking for a volunteer who has a passion for, and experience with, planning and designing outdoor spaces and gardens.

Who you'll be supporting: Age UK Wandsworth are an independent local charity and have been working in the local community to help older people for over 50 years. They work hard to make Wandsworth a great place to grow old and aim to ensure older people have an improved quality of life, can live independently and well in their homes, and are able to participate in the community.

Project brief: Looking to adapt the outdoor space at their Day Centre in Wandsworth Town, Age UK Wandsworth require a volunteer to design a new sensory garden for their service users. They are hoping a sensory garden will stimulate the senses of those with dementia, give those with physical disabilities easy access to the best features of the outdoors, as well as provide older people with some presence in nature. Working within the organisation’s limited resources, they would like the volunteer to visit the space and develop an understanding of the vision and requirements for the project. They would then like the volunteer to research options and design a sensory garden that would enrich their service users’ daily experience, increasing both the quality of their leisure time and their wellbeing.

We'd love to hear from anyone interested - https://linkuplondon.org/aukw-sensory-garden-design/
