Hi - has anybody renewed recently - if so what was the wait time? The website will not commit to any timeline due to Covid so curious to hear people’s recent experiences. Thank you x

I renewed my son’s passport earlier this month and it took exactly two weeks between submitting the application and getting the new passport. I was expecting it to take much longer.

I sent three child passports for renewal on 20 June. One took 2 weeks (I was instructed to send old passport to Newport) and the other two took about 5 weeks (instructed to send old passports to Durham). . They did well keeping us informed of where the passport was in the process.

Some friends applied for their newborn's first passport in mid-July and it took about a couple of weeks.

No idea if a first passport takes longer than a renewal because of additional checks or not.

I did one in the last couple of months and it was very quick - not sure exactly how long but was within 2-3 weeks total.

We did ours a few weeks ago and it came back in about 2-3 weeks.  The blue definitely looks more black than blue though sadly...!!
